Millers injury news 2026/27

21/08/26

Rotherham Advertiser website - Really more " fitness" than "injury" news... Kieran Ngwenya played in a midweek behind-closed-doors game v Sheffield U. and may now be in the squad for the weekend. The Millers lost 1-2, goalscorer Kaleta . No new injuries reported.

BBC Radio Sheffield - post-match interview with AB... Jellis has a calf-muscle problem, but should be back next week. Mullin went off due to cramp (he's still not very fit), several other players had cramp too (!), Agbaire was taken off as a precaution (tight hamstring) and will by checked the medical staff.

Meanwhile... Dean Gardner, on loan at Matlock, is also out injured. He has missed a couple of games. Details from MTFC are not very clear, but it is believed to be a hamstring problem.

Plus ca change, plus c'est le meme chose. I am often accused of cynicism in matters RUFC but the alternative is madness.

Jellis likely to miss Chesterfield. Agbaire now out for two months. I know I'm an old cynic but I did say before that RUFC 'precautions' usually end up in several months' out. Nothing seems to have changed.

We have plenty of cover in centre defence so no need to panic just yet.
Sonny, Ewan, Kieran, Manny, Hamish and Harrison Duncan when the young lad comes back from injury in a few weeks time. Joe Rafferty and Denzel Hall can play there if necessary.
Jamie Jellis is “ touch and go “ for Saturday so to me that suggests he will sit the Chesterfield game out and possibly Tranmere game as well. No point in aggravating the Calf injury and losing the player for months.

Swift recovery for Lenny the Lion.

Before the game last week I would have agreed totally but I thought Lenny possibley had his best game for us against York (since the Sheff Utd friendly 2025) and if he can replicate that.......
Yes I agree. He did look the part. Read the game quite well. Unfortunate how he injured his Hamstring and he wasn’t stretching for the ball.

I sincerely hope the season isn’t starting to unravel at this early stage
I suggested yesterday that the project seemed to be unravelling. A small unbalanced squad that probably needed another 3-4 decent players now has 2 players out for 2 months or so. There are reasons for squads and these include cover for suspensions, loss of form, injury, avoidance of overplaying players, tactical flexibility. We are already behind the curve and the squad is too small to allow leeway. McClaren wants to earn his corn and lay it out for the chairman before the window closes and it's too late.
