Millers injury news 2025/26

Good news on the injuries at last.
Talk of Etete may be available for the Mansfield game. Sherif won’t be far behind.
Agbaire - could well be available for the Stockport County game although no need to rush players back too early.

I’m sure the club will come to the right decision.
My last comment was meant to be funny…( in a perverse sort of way.)
Glad you picked up on it quite quickly… (y) :surrender:

No Millers injury updates on Radio Sheffield tonight. In fact nothing on the Millers at all - not unusual. At least we were spared "period of transition" and "Tony Stewart is doing a wonderful job", for once. Maybe they have finally got the message about how irritating that is?

Rotherham Advertiser website - McWilliams was taken off at Wimbledon as a precaution. Not clear what was wrong with him, but MH told him to "stay down". Outside chance that Agbaire will be in the Millers squad for our next game. Etete is in a similar situation.

Rotherham Advertiser - Millers youngster Ben Hatton is back at the Roundwood training ground (presumably doing some light training). No date set or a comeback yet.

Rotherham Advertiser Twitter - Agbaire could be back on the bench on Saturday (but he's only done a couple of days of days of full training). Hall and McWilliams could be back in the squad too.

Update - Etete has an outside chance of making it into the squad for Saturday too. Sherif has gone back to Everton for more checks before resuming his Millers loan spell.

Rotherham Advertiser - interview with MH... still waiting for Everton to confirm that Sherif is ok to resume playing. Etete and Agbaire are available to play on Saturday. Nombe should be back some time next month. Raggett and T. Holmes won't be able to play until November at the earliest. No new injuries from the recent Stockport match.

Rotherham Advertiser - McWilliams is struggling to be fit for Saturday (leg injury).
Yearwood is availabe to play though (he was left out of the squad last Saturday, but wasn't injured).

Also...

BBC Radio Sheffield - (After discussing latest Millers injury list) ... Presenter said "Ever since Paul Warne left, Rotherham United have got it wrong" . Blimey, what a turn around! What happened to "Tony Stewart is doing a wonderful job", lads?!?!? Finally taken off the stuck record?

Also after spending months telling Millers fans that there was no reason to think that relegation could be a problem, tonight they said "If you finish 20th , that might not be too bad"!

Have they suddenly found out something new that we don't know? ... or have they finally started listening to what Millers fans have been telling them for months?

And we have the manager coming out with the fatuous, self-serving and completely unrealistic statement; '...judge me when I have a full squad...'
Sorry, Matt but a manager ought to be judged on how well he utilises his available resources and of course some of your 'injury woes' are down to recruitment and retention decisions you made and selection/substitution decisions that risked injury or exacerbation of injury.

Such a shame - Kayode is just SO injury-prone.
Out for next 3 games (at least?) with a knee injury I see today.
The Tizer says that the widely held view among fans that Kayode is on a 'pay as you play' contract is incorrect. He is on a basic salary with additional payments when he is available for selection (it's not clear if he qualifies by being available, being in the matchday squad or actually playing). He does of course also take up a squad place - as do McGuckin and Holmes who now seem peripheral.

Rotherham Advertiser website -the Millers are hoping that Sherif and McWilliams will be availabe to play against Bradford City. Agbaire was taken off in our previous game as a precaution, and to avoid him getting sent off, according to MH. We were leading 1-0 at the time!

My comment - oldest "Warney" relegation-season trick in the book. Take a player off to rest them for the next game. We end up losing from a winning position, then lose the next game too. Very predictable and we never seem to learn from previous mistakes.

Well, FWIW I disagree completely with Hamshaw's logic. Not the point about fearing a second yellow which may have validity but rather putting Agbaire in with the intention of replacing him at some point in the second half. No sensible manager would in a difficult away fixture pre-plan to disrupt his central defence. Give a forward or winger 60 minutes but not a CH. Imo another poor decision from Hamshaw and I am still waiting to see instances of where his in-game interventions have actually improved us.

Devils Adovocate!
Do we know that was the intention or was it a decision made as the game progressed and the precaution was the avoidance of the yellow card? I heard no mention of ‘saving him’ - or did I miss that?
Just going on what MH told Paul Davis regarding Agbaire; “We were always going to be looking to bring him off at some stage". Perhaps I'm being harsh but I really don't like disrupting central defense in a game unless it's unavoidable.
