Yeah, 6000 is nearly all our gold members, and there's no way they are all trying for tickets at Middlesbrough.

Yes, all had first team experience except for young substitute Jack Taylor. There had been a Lincolnshire Cup game the previous night with the team for that including usual reserves Dave Tennant, Alan York and Ray Lancaster which accounts for John Kennedy, George Peden and Billy Cobb being in this side.

It was actually in the North Midlands League Cup. Date was 27th March 1968.

It may have been Norman Corner's two goals in this match that earned him a recall to the first team. He went on to score seven goals in the last ten games of the season to really win the fans over for the first time,
 
There will always be hot disputes over ‘loyalty credentials’. If there is to be sustained interest in away attendance, Lincoln could take a look at Celtic and Sevco’s model of registered supporters’ clubs - often with associated bus transport - and offer tickets to these first. Much easier to administer and monitor ticket take-up. #BurtonRoadNo1Imps

As a former exile in London and now abroad, I fear I have seen my last ever live game. The last time I tried to buy tickets was on a visit to the UK the season before last - I had to create four accounts for two people over two websites, link them together and give permissions to buy each other tickets, only to be told at the point of sale that I couldn't buy anything because I was a "new user". Ticketmaster is a pox on everything, the club should get as far away as possible.

I think the club would be amenable to a discreet enquiry given your circumstances. I also have no doubt that people on here would gladly assist you. There is always someone that can't make the game and I am sure 'guests' have had people rally to them from on here in the past. I seem to recall a lift from Manchester airport was sorted for one of our visiting Scandinavian fans a few years back. He had more offers than he could accept.

Just watched a feature on North East version of BBC's Look North about Middlesbrough celebrating their 150th year this season.

Confused me slightly as they're not actually the same club, are they? Weren't they wound up in 1986 with a new club forming and the League allowing the new club to replace the old?

Anyway, besides the whitewashing of the inconvenient facts (unless I'm wrong, always possible), we got a mention when the reporter visited the archive of the Northern Echo where they looked at a report of the 1899-1900 season opener when we beat Boro 3-0 at Sincil Bank. It was a slightly odd bit of the whole feature in that you would assume they'd picked that match as a reference to next Saturday's game, so maybe that section will be repeated next Friday??

*Having referred to Wikipedia this game may well have been their first ever League game, so maybe that was the intended reference (that I obviously missed).

I don't know all the details, but in 1986 liquidators were appointed and with £350,000 required for Football League registration the club risked folding permanently. Board member Steve Gibson, however, brought together a consortium, and it's said that with 10 minutes to spare before the deadline they completed their registration with the Football League for the 1986/87 season. Following this came a change of the official company name to Middlesbrough Football and Athletic Club (1986) Ltd.

The game at Sincil Bank in September 1899 was their first ever Football League game.
