Middlesbrough away ticket news

I personally don’t expect the club to answer every question on a message board. Fact they answer so many is quite remarkable. Maybe life would be easier for the club if employees didn’t answer any at all.

But that’s not really the point. You are changing narrative from point I was highlighting - you implied Luke always talks about how marvellous he is. Which he doesn’t.

And yes, post 90 on this thread, Luke gave a very reasonable explanation of what happened on Tuesday.

May not be reasonable to you but was for me. Ultimately online ticket sales are like 5,000 people turning up at once to a shop with 1,000 items. Not all can be served at same time. Many will miss out. And once those 1,000 items are in baskets (which they were at 10.02 in this case) then people who logged on at right time left with frustrating messages, but what else could be done? Also understand peoples frustration who got browser errors, my advice to those people is do a a quick google search, lots of advice on turning off VPNs, Apple replay etc. these are recent developments looking to stop bots, which is ultimately a good thing.

And for what it’s worth I am not a big fan of online ticket sales. My main gripe is the fees charged and fact ticketmaster ultimately seem to have a monopoly. But from business side far more efficient than calls or queuing.
You’re missing the point mate. 5,000 people shouldn’t be turning up shopping for 1,000 items should they.
The club know the ST holders who have supported the club all over the country because most away tickets are bought using your ST member number as a reference point.
Even if anyone who had attended half the away games last season got preferential treatment for the away games this season then it would be fair.
Fair enough if you don’t agree with me I couldnt give a flying feck but the club have had 4 months to find a fair system and the chance to study how other big clubs do it and they’ve flunked it big time.
Do you think when Man Utd put their 2,000 away ticket allocation on sale 60,000 have a go at fastest finger first. Of course they don’t, the fans who build up a history of travelling away and buying tickets get first dibs and that’s how all big clubs operate.
Anyway I got my tickets but some of my Imps mates didn’t

Seems like a logical point of view, can't really object a strategy of that nature.

I can understand the differing opinions on this but where would the threshold start. There are some people myself included who have watched the Imps since the 60s and been a season ticket holder for many years, long before the electronic systems came in. There are also people that for one reason or another are unable to get to as many away games to due to personal commitments of finance. Whichever way the club approach it some people who feel entitled to a ticket will miss out unfortunately.

Sorry but as much as a points system has it's merits i still don't think it's for the best. Let's look at home support this year, we've probably had to turn a lot of possible new supporters away from the future by not giving them a chance to buy season tickets as last years members come first. That systems in place and we can accept it. There might have been lots of youngsters who could have joined with a parent and started a new following which would be great but we don't have the capacity. What if we then say we should have a points system for home because demand outstrips capacity, should we then dismiss supporters like Scot imp who buys a season ticket and can't attend many and give preference to another supporter who attends all matches and goes in the Fanzone and buys food and drink, spends money regularly in the club shop.
Where does the point system end. What about the supporter that buys a couple of the cheaper away tickets and doesn't go just so he has enough points to get priority to the big one?
Let's not alienate any supporter but the more people get chance to go home and away will probably keep them onboard and grow for the future. Stopping going much is a habit and you can lose fans to other things.
My time as a supporter for over 55 years has been varied due to work, family among other reasons and it won't get much better than this. Attend, meet new people and give the club chance to adapt and grow as we have good people in charge.

Gutted I couldn’t get tickets, I seriously underestimated the sheer clamour these days. Whilst it’s annoying for some it has to be seen as a welcome problem surely.

I’m trying to work my magic on some contacts up here to get hospitality so I’m not fully in the smog end.

Up the Imps and seriously, enjoy the ride!!!!

From speaking to West Ham and Bristol city fans that appears the way they operate
I’ve had a look at both these and they don’t.
Is interesting how they both operate as examples.
West Ham with 50,000 season ticket holders
“The first 90% of our allocation of 2,000 tickets for this fixture sold out to Bondholders, Away Scheme Members and Season Ticket Holders with 27+ Loyalty Points. The remaining 10% (200 tickets) were then made available by a ballot process for Season Ticket Holders who had yet to purchase for this fixture. The ballot closed at 12pm on Monday 27 July, with 2,380 applications received from Season Ticket Holders.”
1 loyalty point per away game over 2 seasons - although feels like that could be a closed shop how do you get points if you can never get tickets?
Bristol City perhaps slightly more realistic
Maybe something like this

I am missing the point? Think that's a bit ironic. I haven't once discussed fairness of who gets tickets. I agree with you that it is absolute gutting for the hardcore who've gone away many a year. And do think club now need to look at a system regarding this, I think they need to look at this with supporters, perhaps the supports board. My point was you claiming Luke always posts 'how marvellous he is'. Which he does not. And as far as I am concerned he deserves our appreciation for keeping us informed as much as he does.

Let's just leave it there. I hope you reflect on it but at moment don't think you are not going to change your mind with the comment regarding Luke. So we will have to agree to disagree here. Don't want to get dragged into lots of mini sub debates!

Closed shop part is why something like this needs a lot of thought. Agree there should be a process, but can't be rushed. My mate is a Villa fan, he is ST holder, goes every home game, goes to away he can do but because of their system he is well down the queue, can't build up credit because can't get tickets for games!

Brother in law is a Newcastle ST holder, has been for 55 years and rarely misses a home game. Historically he built up a lot of loyalty points for away tickets and is guaranteed one due to his status. However here is the rub. He rarely bothers with away games now but still purchases and passes them on to one of his mates thereby maintaining his status. That allows him to cherry pick Sunderland etc.

I would argue that isn't fair, aka having your cake and eating it. Bottom line is, whatever system a club comes up with there is a high chance there will be a set of circumstances which amount to unfairness baked in.

For the aforementioned reasons I pretty much roll with the free for all and take the rough with the smooth. However raising my observations earlier in the thread, I am more disappointed that when I log on during times of heavy activity I would like to know are there any tickets left, am I in a queue, if so what number and the rough waiting time. If I have that, at least I a) know where I stand and b) can make an informed choice about what I do next.

The present system is in effect a ballot and so to me reasonably fair, as long as those involved are Lincoln supporters.

Everyone who wants to go to a game gets an equal chance to go (or miss out).

Is being lucky enough to have both the time and the money to attend every game a measure of deservedness?

Those with the most time and the most money will still get the biggest opportunity to go to away matches.

The only rub this year is that they can't be guaranteed to go to every single game.

I agree.

The downside of being good. A new issue for the Imps.

Why does anyone deserve a ticket?

Does the season ticket holder of the recent glory years deserve it more than the the former season ticket holder in the 90s and 00s that has supported for 30 years but has moved away from Lincoln?

It’s frustrating when you can’t get one. Burnley in the FA Cup would be my example.

But it is what it is. I think the current system remains random and fairest.

Edit: I had missed ScotImp saying this enormously more eloquently than me.

Well, it appears Laura and I are going to Middlesbrough. I've just had a call to sell us two tickets and purchased them.
I think we're going to stay there on Friday night and travel back after the match. Is anyone else doing this?

Well said.

Clarity also helps in managing expectations. The club rates highly for transparency and will surely drive to improve in these areas but the system was clearly swamped.

Once this weekend’s “last offer” for new Gold Members expires, I trust a few things will be confirmed…. how many Season ticket holders there are? How many Silver and Bronze?

Were Silver membership numbers limited as suggested when existing Silvers were invited to renew?

How far in advance will Silvers be able to access tickets?

In the past it has been match by match at the start of the season & then suddenly batches released to Christmas and later the end of season. Good notice will be critical.

Given capacity constraints and the vagueness of the Ticketmaster system, I and others may even fear struggling to get enough to fulfill a 6 or 12 match pre-paid membership….hopefully that’s just jumping at shadows upon which light will be shed.

No matter how frustrating, I think it it’s important to distinguish between things in the club’s control and those that aren’t (like away allocations). All the more so since our rise is spectacular and we have to learn fast and adapt as we grow.

Time to show empathy for fellow supporters and recognise that none of us would be looking forward to the Championship without each other…..(& just a little help from Clive, Harvey, Ron, Bob, Rob and others along the way).

So, from my perspective, not being able to get tickets with my sons, sit in the same place through development work and stuctural change, indeed get tickets at all sometimes…..is all part of hopefully never staring the NL in the face again (to quote Scot I think) and enjoying these dizzy heights….and daring to dream for more.

Just hope to actually witness some of it……
