Middlesbrough 1 Derby County 1 Match report and photo's

The first half hour was a repeat of the previous game and a half. A top side unable to cope with Derby's high energy pressing game. That was when we began to run out of steam a little and they went 4 at the back. That last hour they were the better side. However, we could have been 3 or 4 up by half time and only their keeper kept them in it. We got away with 3 or 4 really bad mistakes that they faild to capitalise on.
Despite Boro's better play that last hour they failed to register a single shot on target, having 10 shots in total. We had 18, 7 of which were on target.
Their goal should never have stood. In the lead up to it they were wrongly given a corner when the lad whose effort was deflected out of play was a good yard offside. The corner was cleared, the ball came back in and Bogle had his mishap.
Still, 7 points in 3 games against teams who were (equal) top going into that round of games is a great haul.
We have now shown that we know how to destroy a side playing 3 at the back. Now to reach that level against a back side.......
I saw the first half on the TV. 2nd half in the car using an App which didn't work too well during the parts of the trip which were away from conurbations. For that reason I will refrain from giving players marks out of ten this week.
