Michael Hortin On Potential Signings: "I understand nothing likely this week."

Danny mentioned he wanted a midfielder but my opinion on Tuesday I thought Tom Pett looked very good in central midfield so maybe reassessing if a signing a midfielder is needed and funds could be used elsewhere.

Maybe a winger and right back cover instead of midfielder

Wild guess and i’m probably wrong

Only been to one preseason game (against Sheffield Wednesday) and Pett was excellent in that game. Pretty sure he'll be much more involved this season, now he's up to our fitness standard and coached in the Cowley way.

We do seem fairly well off for flexible midfield/wide midfield options, so perhaps another in there would do. Right back cover is top priority now in my opinion.

I’d personally put a high-energy centre mid higher on my shopping list

Left footed winger and right back would suit me.
 
I would like to see another winger in too, I just think we would be unnecessarily stretched thin at the back should Eardley (god forbid) be injured or suspended. I know Wilson can cover there but I'd always rather have a specialist fullback as cover than force a centre back into the position. I would say Anderson, Andrade + one other would be a good winger contingent, plus Pett and McCartan as slightly different options.
 
I wonder whether that means that none of the trialists has made it? DC said on Tuesday that a decision would be made on them within the next 24 hours. Not really fair to keep them hanging on, given that the season is now only nine days away.

I expected this week's signing to be a trialist - looks unlikely now. We'll see if any of them are playing at Scunthorpe, but with the new season almost upon us, I would prefer to see our own players in that match.

Danny did say after the Boston game in his interview to mr hortin that he hoped one would be agreed Wednesday and possibly another by the scunny game.

Perhaps they’ve fallen through or Danny has put them on hold pending his review of what’s needed and the performances in the Boston game
 
DC did say one was very close and two were pretty close to signing before the Blackburn game. We know Wharton and McCartan subsequently signed so not sure what has happened re the other one.
Maybe this other one went elsewhere or DC has sights on a different player for whatever reason.

Sometimes I think plays his cards so close to his chest even he cant see them LOL!!!
Bit like all the cloak and dagger with the trialists, whom it would appear none are signing...
O well those he has appear to an improvement on the people they've replaced bar the loss of Woodyard.
 
If Danny said a squad of 22 and we have 19 then surely last 3 are a RB, CM and a WG. I’d like to see another winger too but understand budget. Is Jordan Maguire Drew available?
