Father Of The Forum
every so often, I do a bit of family history research.
Only yesterday, I discovered via a family history site that I have a relation who lives in Birmingham. Her surname is Mervyn. We've been in touch by email and it turns out that her Dad, who was born in Belfast and his brothers are Villa supporters! They would be my second cousins. Their Granny and my paternal Granda, were siblings.
There are quite a few members of this extended family living in Brum. Indeed, her Mum and Dad have lived in the same house in Northfield for the last 50 years.
It's quite astonishing to me that I've had a connection to Birmingham for so long - some of you will know that my parents lived there for over 30 years and that I lived with my own family in Redditch for several years in the 1970s - and have been blithely unaware that I had a pocket of relations there that I knew nothing about. (In a way, it's a bit sad actually, to only find this out at this stage.)
It occurs to me that there is an off-chance that one of these Mervyns (who'd be of my generation) might be a member of this illustrious forum. Indeed, dear reader, you may be one of them. Or you may know one or more of the Mervyns personally.
Anyway, it would be nice to be in touch with long-lost cousins.
Here's hoping!
