Megson, MacLeish, Calderwood, Atkinson, Houghton, Dour Doug

You quoted the post where I asked;

So why do you think giving Ange time will be worthwhile? Either you think doing so will see him be succesful, or you simply feel bad sacking him now and would rather sack him in 3 weeks, 5 weeks, 10 weeks time when it will feel less mean.
yeah fair enough, I was going on this bit

"I just haven't seen anyone really put together a coherent argument to say WHY he deserves time"

I'd rather give ANY new manager, whether I wanted them or not, time to implement their own things. Success/failure in the past in no guarantee of what happens in the future.

I'm happy just to see us trying to play in the opponent's half for a while and see where it takes us.

So a bloke walks into a shitshow caused by a combination of the previous head coach fucking off. and the random purchases of a director of football and has no time to assess what he's got before playing this years probable champions. And a poor start is his fault? Ok.

I don't think some people are really judging him on what they've seen at Forest tbh.

Think you are cutting him a lot of slack. After all it was him that painted the picture and set the tone with his first interview saying this is not a project and he does not have time. I.e. I have to hit the ground running here.

I'd be more forgiving of his results so far for some of what you state had he not come out with that bravado on day 1 and ended up putting us out a cup and on the cusp of the bottom 3.

He was exactly correct. He had to get to know players, use rotation and play games getting results. He didn’t have time to do this, as the comments by many on here has proved. 5 games, three loses and they are clamouring for his head. It is not a project he does not have time. Correct and factual. Not bravado.

Well he hasn't made a very good job of backing up his words and confidence has he.

I agree with everything you've been saying.

The thing that is not being recognised by the ardent Ange supporters is that for those of us who had concerns at his appointment he needs to win us over with results. That hasn't happened yet in the slightest and with every further loss of points it becomes harder for us to agree with those whom seemingly had no concerns at his appointment.

Tonight I am again resetting and fully behind us delivering a result. Something I've done every time since Swansea. If we win great it's hopefully the start of some kind of recovery and building confidence but a loss and (luck or not) it just further cements the concerns. Likewise lose at the weekend following a win tonight would just feel one step forward and two back. He needs a solid run of form just to claim back his starting position for those concerned on day 1.

I think theres only one or two ardent ange supporters on here Barry

Im defending him as i know that we get the best results when we are all together as a club behind the manager

On my way tonight wishing we will get behind him

But knowing he will need 3 wins in a row at some stage to get fans chanting his name like they did coops and nuno

Which helps the whole mood in the ground

Shame he cant get that backing now

Its an extra weapon we dont have tonight

And small things can make a difference

I'm sat here like a numpty on my own with my forest shirt on very much ready to be behind the team as always.

Ud find it hard to find any overly negative posts in game time on the match thread ever in the past from me other than the odd oh dear this isnt great is it. That applies now as much as with previous managers.

Every game after Swansea I have been willing a win to help him on his way and tonight is no different but every game that goes by without one confidence drains away.

It doesn't help for me that I'm not seeing what some others say they are seeing in improved play. Tbh a spell against Betis aside (which i was very vocal in praising in match thread), I haven't seen anything anymore exciting than Nuno. I found his brand fairly exciting to watch as it happens, it was hardly moyes turgid no possession style.
