Megson, MacLeish, Calderwood, Atkinson, Houghton, Dour Doug

Sounds familiar?

Club's statement: Olympiacos issued a brief statement confirming Silva had tendered his resignation for personal reasons, which was accepted by the club.

Context: At the time of his resignation, Silva was still under contract with Olympiacos, and reports mentioned him expressing some unease during the preseason that led to the club seeking a replacement immediately.
Did they employ Edu?

I’ve always wanted Marco Silva. Think he’s a really good manager that’s continually had Fulham challenging top half with limited backing.

He’s taken them as far as he can with his budget, plays a slightly more attacking style than Nuno but not so gung ho that it would disrupt our back line - just compliment our attack more.

He gets on really well with EM and I read an article with Daniel Taylor where he said Silva was his ‘ideal coach’. Silva seems unhappy at Fulham and I suspect would be very open to a more ambitious project.

He’s in his final year as well. I’d love to see what he could do with an expansive squad. He’s also Portuguese, which would help with the Brazilian contingent.

Everything about Marco Silva fits Forest in my opinion.
Same here and he is a sour moody guy, but so was Nuno

I’m nervously watching Ange to see if he can pull some results out in the next 3

Newcastle and Chelsea are not the force of last year, but neither are we

If Ange doesn’t win in any of the next six games, there’s only one man I’d turn to:

Sean O’Driscoll.

It would be poetic justice. SO’D sacked on Boxing Day 2012 by an incompetent interfering owner, after a 4-2 win against Leeds.

SO’D MKII is hired by an interfering owner to start on Nov 9th against Leeds, nearly a full 13 years later.

SO’D is a visionary and would go down well with Marinakis, especially those interviews in which he says results are irrelevant, only performances matter.

Why not just focus on a fresh start at Forest? If he's wank, he's wank. If he's brilliant, he's brilliant.
Because overall he was wank for Spurs and the early indications are he will be wank for us.

I would love him to prove me wrong but the odds are against it…

EM responsible for signing off on the players purchased, the hiring of Edu, the fireing of Nuno and the hiring of Ange.

Edu responsible for players purchased, the fireing of Nuno and the hiring of Ange.

Nuno responsible for pre-season, 3 games and his own fireing.

Ange responsible for 5 games (4 away) in 20 days.

How do you rank the 4 in who's to blame for our current League and Europa League results?

Up the Reds!

EM is responsible for everything good and bad weve achieved. The rest just pawns in his game.

Hes a winner. We will keep improving. Have faith in him.

He will make mistakes along the way of course. But in time he wins and we win.

Hypothetically, would you accept finishing 17th in the league and winning the Europa League?

No. While I would love us to win the Europa League, the season we would have to have to finish 17th would be horrific after last season.

I got used to regular wins against teams I know and got to look at a league table that made me smile for a whole season. Despite the kudos of a cup win, you don’t really get that feeling, particularly if your league position leaves you concerned for your team’s future in the top flight.

No, the focus has the be on the league; that is where the bulk of the income comes from.

He can put the stiffs out in the Europa games as far as I am concerned.

But you can guarantee that the opposite will happen.

Its interesting reading what the cognoscenti think about Ange's management.

Some of these people were calling for Nuno to be replaced by Iraola at this time last season; Iraola started his carrer at Bournemouth with 1 win, three draws and 8 defeats in his first 12 games - it took to game 10 to get his first league win - in that period Bournemouth scored 9 and conceded 27.

And that was with a full pre season to fashion his team.

Iraola must be thankful the cognoscenti's wishes did not come true

That’s not enough to stop it from happening though?
He may not ‘allow’ it or be able to afford it, doesn’t makes us immune to it.
In fact that level of arrogance towards it makes it more likely in my opinion.
I don't think there's any fan attitude that is going to make relegation more or less likely.
We aren't immune to relegation, but we'd have to perform ridiculously badly for relegation to be a thing for us.

To add to manager debate. Glasner has turned down new contract discussions at Palace. His present contract lasts to end of season. Rumour is he is Man Utd bound once Amorim is sacked. The alternatives to Ange were and are limited.

To be fair I meant a level of arrogance that may apply to the club rather that what any fan thinks.

Limited, yes but there were alternatives at the time.
Probably even more alternatives during the summer break just gone.
If Nuno wasn’t happy and if we were on the ball someone like Silva becomes more achievable.
But I concede non of us know what has really gone on behind the scenes during the break.
A summer replacement may not have been expected/ viable.

Iraola was new to the league, figured things out and got better. As I've posted elsewhere, his losses were also to the big 6 plus Brighton. They held Chelsea to a draw and then had two disappointing losses which could have seen him go if it continues, except results turned. So it took him 10 games to find his feet in a new league.

Ange lit the league up, for 10 games. Then crashed, hard. That crash has never improved, never picked up, and actually he's slipped even lower. Consistently, over 66 premier league games he's failed to turn Spurs around from, let's face, the low point he put them in.

So what is it exactly that makes you think Ange can do better here? What makes you think he's the man for the job? That he can deliver wins and consistent results at a team with less resource, less stature, inferior squad, to the one he consistently failed at?

You can be condescending and clever talking about the cognoscenti and whatever else. It isn't a case of having no patience - it's that many of us believe a mistake has been made. If you make a mistake then the quicker you can rectify it the better. Just blithely continuing and trying to pretend the mistake was not a mistake, does not fix the mistake.
