Meeting with residents earlier this week

I attended an open meeting last week where season ticket holders and some fans who lived in the Sincil Bank area were invited. Several things were discussed including parking issues and litter caused by the 617 display, also the local council representatives were present.
I spoke to Liam Scully regarding ST price increases, he said that the club expected to post losses of £250k for the season which is why they did it. I asked how on earth they would of managed if 9k didn't turn up to watch them or we didn't do so well in the Checkatrade trophy. I didn't really get any answer so then asked how do other clubs do it on 4k attendances, he said money men.

£250k loss? That is frightening when you think of our attendance. You wonder how Chris moyses et al managed to see the seasons out on restricted finances?
Are there too many mouths on the tit? ?

Hmmm... that does not sound good, but then we are spending £1.3 million on new training facilities.

Yes hopefully this is what will be shown as the major outlay hence the loss. I would hope that the money taken from gate receipts on their own would be in the black

Not a problem really if you think back what was said about the income generated from the FA Cup i.e. that money would be spread over several seasons so in effect a good profit last season and we have spent some of it this year as planned. We have had the major investment in the training ground as mentioned, signed some good players and as I understand it season ticket sales are going well again.

Shall we wait for the official announcement. Whatever any loss is we are not talking 2002 again so keep positive

I'm no accountant but i'm pretty certain Skip is correct. *if* these numbers are true then that is a concern ans suggests our current model, even with a packed Sincil Bank and a small squad, isn't sustainable.

I can't have been the only one that noticed we made a massive loss last season if the reported cup revenue was taken out?

Sounds suspiciously like propaganda on two fronts to me:
Attention all agents and sellers - we aren't mega rich, quite the contrary and we won't be paying over the odds.
Attention those who don't want a new stadium - we need greater capacity to generate more cash.
Seriously, if we post a loss on 6000 season tickets and an almost full ground, the much vaunted model is flawed.

Crikey! Even after a cup win this year and debts already wiped out and cash to come after the poffs! Luckily we werent promoted paying extra for certain players! Plus Sir Clive is still investing and 2/3 new directors and full home capacity!
If true how can we sustain our upward curve with better players????

I don't see this as a problem 'at the moment'.
I don't know how much profit we made during the 2016/17 season, but if for example we made £2 million, surely we can take a loss of £250k each year for 8 years before the piggy bank is empty. Is that seeing it a little bit too simply?
There will be certain things that effect how long that initial profit will last, a drop in average attendances, no cup runs for a few years will reduce it; but also developing talent that can be sold on for a profit, continuing to get a cup run each season will make it last longer.
If things don't go well I'd expect the cloth to be cut accordingly long before they have to smash open the piggy bank to get at the last few pennies.

Yes. The club is at possibly peak interest. A levelling out caused by not gaining promotion - or not challenging for it - and a return to the usual cup "runs" will mean a 250k loss is quickly turned into £1 million.

If the statement in the OP is true, that is a worrying turn of events.

With EFL payments, loyalty payments and sportvest I don’t think there is anything to worry about. Add to that the Legends Lounge.

Yep agreed. Add the Raggett fee as well.

So should we start cutting our cloth accordingly now?

The ink probably hasn't dried on Eardley's contract yet, we could save a few quid if we rip that up.
Pull the plug on the training ground!
Leave the squad size as it is!

These would be sure-fire ways of making us less competitive and reducing our average attendances, and thus adding to the losses.
At the moment it is all about keeping us at peak interest and finding ways to push that peak higher.

You have to either believe the wheels are going to fall off the Lincoln Loco, or that it's going to keep flying along to greater things!

Personally i don't believe the figure. Presumably at that time the playoff final was still on. Was he presuming we wouldn't get there? Is the final cost neutral?
