10 months ago I said we'd finish 2nd. It looks very likely. The only reason I bring that up is that I am rarely correct.
However, that is not the point. It is May 1st. We have little to complain about. Very little. It seems to have created a vacuum in Spurs supporters lives. An inability to communicate. A surreal feeling that creates a feeling of dispassionate observation. The thought "what should I do now?" floats around the mind. The summer will be full of rumours but in reality, little is likely to happen.
Pochettino has it right. Beating ars*nal and revelling in it is not thinking strategically enough, Spurs have bigger plans. He should note that winning that game contributes to changing the mentality of supporters. We fear fewer and fewer sides. Perhaps only one other. Perhaps none. Is the nervousness of recent seasons dealt with?
4 games left and a very very slim hope that anything of significance will happen. And that is out of our control for the most part. Harry winning the Golden Boot would be a great thing.
This will be a true test of the players, and supporters, men-tali-tee. We need to banish the memories of last season's final games.
And there is that one true test left, that one moment to make the memory of White Hart Lane a happy, everlasting moment of excellence.
Beating the Special One and United at the last home game at White Hart Lane. It is not a trophy. It will not go in the record books as anything other than a win. But it will cement this team's memory in the old stadium. What a special moment that would be.
