Matos style

We've had a chance now to see Matos' style this season and to know what to expect next year.

I'd like to see us be more on the front foot next year and take the games to teams, especially those better teams and not sit back at home against the likes of Boro.

Dominating possession is as important anymore as wanting to do that can often prove to be extremely boring to watch. A bit of pace and power is what's needed IMO

However, we won't know yet what he wants in terms of new signings as the squad still remains a bit of a muddle between ball players and very much non ball players (centre backs).

Wingers remain the top issue in the squad, a lack of pace was evident yesterday but even without Galbraith and VIP we look like there's something to build on.

I’ve largely enjoyed how we’ve played under Matos, when we get the press right it can be very effective. I also think what stands out is the set piece numbers, scored 13 and all since he came in I think. That’s some teams full seasons worth of set piece goals in about 30 games for Matos. Would like to see more possession/control and I think we will as Matos has mentioned it a few times recently.

CB and some wingers definitely a priority. Eom desperately unlucky this season though, 10 big chances created and only 2 assists. Statistically he had a decent season creatively but didn’t get the G/A numbers to go with it. He should be playing for us next season because I think he’ll have a proper breakout season soon.

Pace needs to a priority too, I agree. We’ll have a much better time with low blocks if we up the speed a bit.

Reasons to be optimistic though!

At times we have slowed the play but overall I love the energy. We will never dominate 90 minutes, but we are now showing signs of a team who can claw back to win and healthy score lines. I would like us to be more killer instinct. But pre season is needed with fee additions.
