Vital 1st Team Regular
Yes, Brian Heward went to Australia in the summer of 1964, played for a club there called Bankstown, but didn't settle in Australia and was back playing for City in the autumn of the same year. And glad we were to have him, but we still had a bad season, it being the mid-1960s.
He later became chairman of the Red Imps Association and was heavily involved with local business organisations (others may remember exactly in what way)
Yes I knew Brian very well. The team he played for in Australia were based out in the western suburbs of Sydney about an hour from the city centre. Wouldn't of been as developed as it is now out there and would also of been pretty chilly in the winter months.
Brian was a very keen tennis player and was pretty good to and played well into later life.
He was also Chairman of the Lincoln branch of the Federation of Small Businesses.
