Tough match. Southport have conceded 2 goals in their last 8 away games, a fantastic record. They have lost 2 of their last 11 aways.

One goal from Matt Rhead today will see him become the 24th City player to score 20 League goals in a season. It will be the 30th time a City player has reached that milestone.

A sobering thought for me is, I can remember this as a League fixture, normally with Southport on the end of a 3 or 4 nil thrashing.

I remember one Good Friday game in 1966 when we bashed them 4-0 only to lose 5-1 at their place on Easter Monday, just three days later!

I also recall us thrashing them 6-0 in our Championship-winning season in February 1976 on a Wednesday night.

Tony Woodcock and Bert Bowery - our two loanees from Forest - both scored that night.

Bert's son Jordan plays for Oxford.

And I remember a certain Southport game from 1975, albeit away...

I remember that too, it must have been in half term week as me and some pals went to the Odeon to watch Carry on Behind in the afternoon and went straight to the match.

Fixtures starting to pile up for Dover with today's postponement. They now have a minimum of 16 games to play (15 league) in the last 2 months of the season, which will be extended to a minimum of 18 in 2 months if they beat Nantwich in the Trophy quarter-final next Saturday. Does that put them out of the running for the play-offs?

If memory serves Woodcocks goal was a overhead kick into the Railway End.

Nope!

And the first in this league if and when.

Certainly falling into the Braintree style of fixture pile ups. They must be playing every mid week in March & April?

Of course not! Won't do them any favours though and might just help us out.
