The truth is that there are no outcomes for the players, they play poorly and the manager gets the sack. Bruce can't put a rocket up anyone's arse as it will be counter productive.
All the players know that Bruce is a dead man walking and all they have to do is show up on the pitch and they'll get paid regardless.
For me the Reading game will show us how much respect the players actually have for Bruce and his coaching staff. After that Dr X will have a tricky decision to take, either stick or twist. Neither is that appealing to me as I crave stability at the club and seriously question whether there are any "saviours" out there who can right the ship and get her sailing towards nirvana.
For me the players hold all the power and have hefty, long-term contracts in place in most cases. If we couldn't sack Gabby for his actions two seasons ago or McCormack last season, what hope is there that owners, CEO's, directors, managers and coaching staff can influence a players attitude.
