Match Thread: Port Vale v Lincoln City

I think we have to make a few changes to keep things fresh, I imagine Pett, Green, Shackell and Chapman to all start. Possibly Wilson and Rhead will aswell.

The likes of O’Connor, Akinde, Freck and Bostwick will need to be nursed carefully with fitness and injuries they have nursed the last 6 months.

I can see 5 or 6 changes for this.

Think DC effectively ruled two out due to the schedule - I can imagine that being O'Connor and Akinde.

Do we know if Mr Habergham is anywhere near fit enough to make an appearance tonight? Has he been in training?

To be fair, from 2011 - 2016 we weren't eligible for the League Cup. Having said that, we wouldn't have won anyway!

According to Thommo on Saturday, he spoke to Sam before the game who said he was going to be a couple of months before he saw anything like first team action..

I always remember the game at QPR as a 5-2 defeat, but it was 4-2 as per the article. I have no idea why that fallacy survives in my mind to this day, but I cannot shake it. Ask me in a fortnight, I will tell you it was 5-2.

The 2-2 draw at Port Vale was the Tony Lormor game - having missed the whole of the previous season, he came on as a substitute with (I think) ten minutes or so to go and scored twice.

Tom Pope is likely to be missing for Vale after suffering a back spasm on Saturday.

There will be changes for this game - I can see Smith for Vickers, Rhead for Akinde, Pett for O'Connor for starters.

In his two years at the club, DC has taken the club the furthest it has ever been in the FA Cup, the furthest it has ever been in the FA Trophy, and the furthest it has ever been in the Football League Trophy. Just the League Cup left.

What a great stat. Never even occurred to me that they had done that. Would be great to bag all the cup runs :grinning:
