Match Thread: Oldham Athletic v Lincoln City

Kamara and Gallagher look OK. Bradshaw slotted into left centre back. Montsma in the centre. One diagonal 30 yarder went out for a goal kick. Benn left wing back.

Not sure almost enough is being made of Lewis coming back and playing after three ACLs (the one with Dordrecht and the two with us). I didn't expect him to be back actually starting games yet either more eased in from Jez George's comments about the plan for him.

I really hope he holds up - he must have a lot of resilience and proud of the club for offering a deal.
Lewis's first ACL was even earlier than Dordrecht - at Heerenveen when he was 16. Looks such a classy player, so hope he can make it back.

Strange team, only two first teamers there (plus Montsma).

Presumably the first team will play the second half.
Looks that way with the bench stacked but great to see 4 Academy lads start!!!
Really looking forward to seeing what MJ, Zane & Bola can do at this level!
Gutted that we weren't able to go too!

How's Zane & Bola done??
Big step up to the first team

Ordinary first half but with only three players who will be anywhere near our first team, it’s pretty meaningless to be honest.

Most of our attacking down our right, most of theirs down their left. Very lopsided game. Benn playing left wing back has hardly touched the ball. Same goes for okoro who is playing left side attack, and appears to be left footed by the way he lined up to take a free kick… which moylan eventually took.
Montsma is the stand out player and jeacock looks confident on the ball, but hasn’t been tested really.

First half, Lewis is running the show from centre back, leads to questions on how he will do that with Ethan in front of him who usually runs the show.

Trialist A looks to be playing wing back / winger more than right back, but going forward has got involved quite well.

Jeacock looks confident in goal and is coming to claim within his area quite well.

Moylan looks like he is hungry for the ball, wanting to run at players, he is getting into some good positions but his choice of cross has been suspect.

Fred has pushed and pressed quite well, but against Oldham, they are less likely to faff about with it at the back so he is limited in his opportunities

All in all none of the young lands has made a gaff or looks out of place, but it needs to be remembered that we are playing an early friendly against a Conference side. Against better opposition in a competitive game there is a lot less time and mistakes are often punished.

HT. Considering how young the first half team is they have done quite well against an Oldham side who have a few first teamers in. Their GK is a bit of a mare and nearly got caught cold a couple of times with our press. Great to see Lewis again strolling around at the back, marshalling young defenders, though obviously he’s not been greatly physically tested. Freddie Draper and Jack Moylan first teamers who put themselves about a bit as usual, but otherwise largely the young lads who kept quite calm and knocked the ball about well. Triallist at RB/RWB but small and quick. Got caught out of position a couple of times which probably didn’t impress Skoobs. Don’t know who he is.
We’ll see what happens in the second half/60 minutes changes.

Zane is left footed but decent with his right foot too
