Match Thread: Lincoln City v Bristol Rovers

This was a very poor performance from the Imps. Rovers weren't any better. No stand out player today.

Monstma motm again maybe but tommo right he's a bit impetuous and gives away a few too many free kicks when he can't win the ball.

No one played especially well today though, I thought we'd create more second half

Bristol deserved the win in the end. We had a bad first 15 minutes of the second half where everything went astray. The pen came from us giving the ball away unnecessarily in the middle of the park. We finished strongly and are clearly fitter than them but they defended well and importantly broke quickly from their own penalty area to relieve the pressure on many occasions.

BR did to us what we’ve done to others, we just didn’t have the strength or quality to get on top. They were strong. We weren’t clever enough with our movement and passing. MA will see areas/players to work on.

everything after our goal was absolute chaos, and nothing like what has been on show to date. it was interesting how we reacted.
hopper goes off, and we have no focal point. scully has no chance against three centre backs and a deep line )))

with nothing to lose, i wonder why monster wasn't tried up front.

Edun's passing in particular was infuriating. Grant was only allowed to be what he can be in the last 15 minutes. Silly by Jackson to get the 2nd booking. Good that Walsh can come in.

Mingling that. Missed Hopper a lot when he went off. Montsma our best player today by a mile. Jackson and Edun poor. Anything left in kitty should go on a left back.

Was thinking the same, probably two weakest parts of our squad now LB and striker... Once hopper went off us lobbing not particularly good crosses into the box looked futile

Well done to Rovers. They deserved that. Disciplined and fought for every ball like their lives depended on it. We simply weren’t at the races today with some wasteful passing, especially from Edun. Once they got the lead they just packed the defence and cleared every ball that came in. We just didn’t have the imagination to try something different. Oh well, at least it’s got the monkey off our backs that we topped the league and had a 100% record. Now they can relax and play football again. Funny - been difficult to pick a MoM in the first few games because several players have played well- today you couldn’t pick one because non-one played really well, or just that the whole team was nullified. Rovers were also as fit as us. Finally, the officials were awful - end of.
On to Fleetwood. Up the Imps.

Poor performances from Jackson and Edun (the latter's passing was awful throughout), and no impact at all from Howarth and Scully when we needed them to come on and affect the game.

At least it brings us all back down to earth.

Don't think he was worse than others. He was always willing going forward, tho final passes weren't successful, and Bridcutt didn't exactly shine today in distribution, which is what we needed in midfield

Think edun gave the ball away a lot even when he was coming backwards to be honest, not sure what his stats were. He actually defended fairly well though

A real test. Thought we were evenly matched. They nicked it. Montsma was great. Nothing to worry about with 61% pocession to us. Thanks for your company this afternoon I’ve enjoyed it. We go again with Fleetwood who thrashed Hull. That’ll be a test. Off to make butter chicken curry for the family.
