Blackpool will be hoping to build on their draw last weekend as they host Charlton Athletic on Tuesday at Bloomfield Road.
Charlton, who failed to avoid relegation from the Championship last season, will be hoping to build on their victory last weekend, as Jake Forster-Caskey’s second half winner claimed all three points against Wigan Athletic.
A spirited performance against Crewe Alexandra will give Neil Critchley’s men some confidence ahead of Tuesday’s clash, with Grant Ward’s second half strike earning a point for the Seasiders.

The visitors
After an eventful 19/20 season, Lee Bowyer’s side were relegated after a 4-0 final day defeat to Leeds United. The Addicks returned to League One, missing out on Championship safety by a single point.
Bowyer has had a busy summer transfer window in anticipation of immediately bouncing back to the second tier of English football, with 12 new additions arriving at the Valley.
Veteran midfielder Ben Watson joined from Championship side Nottingham Forest, whilst Bowyer bolstered his attacking options with the additions of Omar Bogle, Conor Washington and Marcus Maddison. Talented youngsters Dylan Levitt and Ian Maatsen also joined the ranks, whilst Andrew Shinnie and Paul Smyth joined on transfer deadline day.
The Addicks have had a mixed run of results to kickstart their 20/21 League One campaign, with two victories, two defeats and one draw seeing them sit 15th in the table, three points above Blackpool.
A 2-0 victory over Crewe Alexandra gave Charlton the perfect start, but consecutive defeats against Doncaster Rovers and Lincoln City saw them lose their momentum. Though, a 1-0 victory over Wigan Athletic will give Bowyer’s side some much needed confidence ahead of their trip to Bloomfield Road on Tuesday evening.
The Manager
A former Charlton Athletic player, Bowyer was appointed manager in September 2018 after a successful spell as caretaker manager, following Karl Robinson’s dismissal.
Prior to his arrival, the Addicks were five points adrift of the League One play-off places, with Robinson ending his 16-month tenure year at the Valley in March 2018. Bowyer took caretaker charge, winning six of his last nine league outings to guide Charlton to the League One play-off semi-finals. Though, they ultimately fell short after losing against Shrewsbury Town over two legs.
After a successful first full season in charge, the 43-year-old guided the club to promotion after a dramatic play-off journey. A 4-4 aggregate score against Doncaster Rovers saw the Addicks eventually become victorious on penalties, before a 2-1 play-off final victory against Sunderland to confirm their promotion to the Championship.
Despite relegation in their first season back in the Championship after a three-year absence, Bowyer will be hoping the Addicks can bounce back at the first time of asking this campaign.

Forster-Caskey plus Watson and Shinnie now looks a very experienced three for Charlton in between their wing backs. Can see what they've gone for with their recruitment.

No idea. Depends if there's any more of our new favourite hamstring injuries in training or warm up.

Either Ballard or Mitchell for Garbutt maybe and just one change to start but with NC planning to get Woodburn on for Williams or Yates after half time is my best guess.

Have to say NC's interview technique is getting better, and remembering the previous oppositions goal stats when discussing tactics etc shows the quality of his football brain.

Neil Critchley has confirmed that Blackpool are awaiting scan results on the extent of Luke Garbutt’s injury, after the defender suffered a hamstring problem against Crewe Alexandra last Saturday.

The summer signing suffered an injury blow early in the first half on Saturday, with the Seasiders securing a point away from home courtesy of Grant Ward’s second half equaliser.

Ahead of the Charlton Athletic clash on Tuesday evening, Critchley confirmed that defender Dan Ballard could play a big part for his side in the coming weeks.

“Dan (Ballard) played last Wednesday for his country and didn’t get back until the early hours of Thursday morning. He joined training with the squad on Friday, so it’s nice to have him with the group,” Critchley said.

“It’ll be nice to have him in the squad for the next few games. At some point, I’m sure we’ll see more of him."

The gaffer also provided an update on Icelandic defender Daníel Grétarsson, with the 25-year-old yet to make his debut for the club.

“He hadn’t played for 3-4 weeks before arriving here from Norway. He’ll take a little bit of time naturally to adapt to the intensity of how we train and acclimatise to a different country and way of playing.

“He’s got the qualities and the attributes to adapt and that’s why we brought him here, so hopefully we can see him feature very soon.”

Critchley also provided updates on the injuries to Keshi Anderson and Luke Garbutt, with the latter suffering a suspected hamstring injury in Blackpool’s draw against Crewe Alexandra.

“It’s unfortunate for Luke. We’re waiting on the result of his scan, but we’re hoping that it’s not as bad as it first looked.

“Keshi is probably a few weeks away from returning. We’ll work with them tirelessly to help them recover and get them back as quickly as possible, but as safely as possible too."

I love his interviews. Find myself agreeing with nearly everything he says. Emily says his voice is boring though... could that be part of the issue in the dressing room?

Don't know if there's an issue in the dressing room but yep, if you've got two similar coaches who are just focused on coaching a tactic and winning the passing and showing you a clipboard with arrows on it then it could get a bit robotic maybe without personality. Can't really go pub or paintballing though to break the ice at the moment either. Unless you're Jerry Yates!

I think Spud will start alongside Ballard, Husband at left back. We need some stability at the back and I think it changes every week

Think he could do with a breather.
Fair enough. Got worried I’d missed an injury as he wasn’t even on the bench.
I’d go with:

Maxwell

Turton
Ekpiteta
Ballard
Husband

MJ
Robson
Woodburn

Yates
Madine
Hamilton

But that won’t happen, so it’s probably that team with Ward in for Woodburn.

On-loan Liverpool man Ben Woodburn makes his Blackpool debut tonight, as the Seasiders host Charlton Athletic.

The deadline day arrival goes straight into the starting line-up for the fixture, with Jerry Yates dropping down to the bench.

Demetri Mitchell also starts in place of the injured Luke Garbutt.

Team: Maxwell, Turton, Ekpiteta, Husband, Mitchell, Williams, Robson, Ward, Woodburn, Hamilton, Madine

Subs: Sims, Gabriel, Ballard, Kemp, Lubala, Sarkic, Yates
