Due to extreme and escalating weather conditions and in the interests of supporter and staff safety, today’s match has been postponed.

This decision has been made by Manchester City’s Safety Officer following consultation with Club stakeholders and officials at West Ham United.

Further information regarding the rescheduling of today’s match will be published in due course.

They probably should have just delayed it and let the weather clear out.

It is difficult. They have to make the call with enough time to prevent as many people travelling as possible. Other considerations include whether surrounding areas are flooded or considered dangerous, if there is risk of flying debris, if local transport (e.g. trams) are available to get fans to and from the stadium.

Bottom line over here........massive emphasis on Health & Safety .....and avoiding litigation from anyone who might have been injured because conditions were considered dangerous. The Land of Hindsight......
 
....plus football in the conditions could have been a total lottery & a great leveller. One long pass carried over the head of a defender or the flight of the ball misjudged and WHU could have been handed a gift....

I can only hope that we get the rest we needed and come back stronger for the Champions League, in which we will overcome the Real Madrid challenge, but if we believe in ourselves then we can do it, weather permitting.
 
Just checked the weather forecast since there’s another storm (Dennis) coming in over the weekend but it looks like it will be over by then.
