Martin Tyler - rag sycophancy personified

I caught Martin Tyler's commentary on the rag/Liverpool goals this morning whilst Sky's Goals on Sunday was drifting by in the background.

FFS he nearly exploded when Martial scored his goal which contrasted very strongly with his decidedly unspectacular response to Benteke's super bicycle kick. What a sycophant :82: When Benteke scored his response was quite flat whereas when the young lad put the ball away he pretty much wet his pants. Basically declared the lad The Messiah.

I know he delivered the iconic "Agueroooooooo" moment on that unforgettable day in May 2012 but I have noticed on other occasions his seeming inability to contain his extra delight when the rags score compared to his responses to opposition goals.

Disappointing lack of balance :eek:h no:

I feel our Martin never goes near a Stretford game without some lube and tissues.

Pretty shocking, but then again, Murdoch knows how many hangers on the rags have and probably has brown-nosers like Tyler doing commentary so as not to upset the Malaysia Massive

At last, some wider debate on the Tyler-bias issue on the rag-dippers game. I came in and caught the tail end of a discussion about it on Talkshite.

I am sure he was silent when Vinnie Scored against Chelsea before gathering his thoughts and remembering he was supposed to be commentating

Phew. Was beginning to wonder if I was alone in noticing the difference between the two reactions. Could he have sounded more like a rag fan when Martial scored? I'm not sure he could.

Tyler is now aware of the criticism of his over-praise of Martial's goal and his near ignoring of Benteke's. I watched last night's game between WHU and Newcastle at which he was commentating and, completely out of context (given the two teams playing) he started speaking admiringly about Benteke's overhead kick. Sounds like he was trying to make amends. I hope this means he will make more effort to sound unbiased in future, even though we all know he patently isn't..

He's got previous.

I recall when Dzeko netted inside 45 seconds against the rags back in March 2104 if you weren't looking at the television you would not have known a goal had been scored. His response was SO flat it was unbelievable.

Despite the Agueroooooo moment his reputation santo an all time low with me after this recent sycophantic response. May have to reach for the mute button in future! :112:

Similar in the Liverpool/City game 13/14 when we came from behind to make it 2-2 and nearly spoil the fairytale.
I think Tyler supports storylines rather than teams. Sky Sports bosses decide what scenario will create maximum viewing figures and do all they can to accommodate that.
Everyone from pundits to News Editors are given agendas to work to if they want to keep their jobs.
