Martin, Hess and Wagstaff leaving.

Really surprised at Martin, one of our best and most influential players. Can only assume he's had a better offer.
Waggy, brilliant on his day, but so injury prone.
No surprises at Hess, very poor a lot of the time last season. Assume he'll go to Eastleigh.

He might go to Sunderland if Hess follows his chairman

Andy Hessenthaler won't be Sunderland and Joke Hessenthaler wouldn't join in the unlikely event that his dad went there.

.

The way its written we didn't make him an offer he to stay. He may well have a better offer and told us that he's not interested in a new deal but I suspect he just didn't do enough, consistently for the wage he expects.

Why start another thread on this topic?!!

The title immediately lets people know the retained list has been released rather than adding to a thread asking who his leaving which may just be further speculation.

Exactly Nibbles. You're spot on there unlike Phil who seems to have missed the point. There's quite a difference between speculating what's going to happen and what's actually happened!

Wagstaffe represents a risk given his long standing injury problems and Martin is going for his last big contract. It's easy to see why we decided not to offer them what would have been good money by our standards. They both did well for us last season however and will need replacing from within or without. Hess's time has run with us but he's a better footballer than many think in my opinion. I'm sure he has a choice of moves already. Good luck to all three , especially Hess, who has a long career still ahead of him.

All three of those will find new clubs, no problem.

Hess has been in a comfort zone for far too long and needs a new challenge. He'll be snapped up either by another league one side or maybe league two.
The experience of the other two will have clubs lining up for them.

Cundle may have to drop to non league to rebuild upwards but you never know.

As for the others released ……………. journey men.

Maybe Phil’s right. Perhaps we should just have four different threads over the summer that you have to continuously scroll through.

Player ins and outs
Council sponsorship
Politics
Lunch
The best post of the month so far. Admin, please delete all other threads and let us start again with these four topics.

Good decision by the club on each of the non-retained players; though i`d like to have seen more of Moussa. Good luck for the future to each of them. Inconsistency troubled many of our team this past season and Martin was no exception. He had some exceptional games for us but went missing on too many occasions. Correct decision to let him go.

Of those still under contract, two or three could yet attract offers from other clubs; I`m thinking of Holy, Eaves and maybe Ehmer. Whilst some may consider themselves lucky to have secured multi-year deals, given some awful performances throughout the past season.

I felt that free speech was more of a value that should be lived across the four different threads. Perhaps a separate thread for hate speech would be in order for VG though. And maybe one for financial / consumer advice for WX, though a link to moneysavingexpert.com as a banner at the head of the message board could take care of that.
