Marriott for £4.75m...

...apparently accepted tonight. Well that’s what I’ve heard. Seems Stenson was right yesterday.
Puzzlingly, same source says we’re chasing Waghorn too, but for rather more.
Let’s see what tomorrow brings.

Last night my phone was buzzing with the story of this and also with Waghorn deal done for £3million plus 2 players and John Terry as player coach. All seems to be kicking off!

Trouble is the two players are Vydra and Lawrence

Proper happy Larry incha?

Rumours hitting my ears over night.....

Marriott in. £4.75M plus add ons that could see the fee rise to a max of £6M. The figure they wanted.

Waghorn. £3M plus 2 players. neither of which is Vyds or Lawro.

2 more, unnamed, players on their way in.

Vydra on his way out.

Just rumours but I would expect the +2 in the Waghorn deal to be Martin and either Nugent or Jerome.

Waghorn and Marriott were on Forest's radar for quite a while until we went for better. Now one of them has had to settle for second best.:utv:

If it turns out to be true that Waggers is coming to Derby, when were we last second best to you?

...alternatively, ‘Waghorn and Marriott were on Forest’s radar for quite a while until’...1. We decided we couldn’t afford them. 2. They decided they’d go somewhere better. 3. Having compared the stadia, owners, managers and training facilities they decided it was a bit of a ‘no brainer’ and opted against joining the ‘also rans’.
Delete as appropriate.

Not too sure about Waghorn, a bit over-rated, think I'd prefer Vydra to stay personally. A different option I suppose.

Wonder if we'll look at the left back problem, or does Lowe get thrown in?

Yes I remember when we looked at Waghorn when he was at Leicester and happy we didn't go there. He did OK in Scotland but that's not a great standard and then Ipswich picked him up for his bus fare home virtually. He was good for them last year, but the suspicion remains....

That said Vydra doesn't string seasons together anyway, so we cannot look at him and say 20 goal striker regularly. its a tough one but I think we need to cash in on his 2017-18

Interestingly, no Butterfield, Bryson or Thorne amongst the starters or the subs against Coventry. Guess Thorne might not be fit (surprise) but might it be that the other two are part of the proposed Waghorn deal?

Does that lower or increase the price we pay?

Basie you couldn't sign either of them Mendes is not their agent and they ain't Portuguese

RA I suspect QPR is their destination but I'm only guessing

And we don't have the NLN legacy of being guaranteed satisfaction from players from lesser clubs. We have to make do from our Academy which we do or push the boat out for guaranteed quality when the money is available.

Can only suppose that the Waghorn deal will involve a couple of players moving the other way mista. That’s surely the only way the sale of a player who’s had one excellent season and only cost Ipswich £250,000 (I think) can now be made to look like an £8m deal.
With Martin not really ‘fit’ - and being a Norwich boy - I’d imagine Butterfield, Blackman, Bryson, Pearce, Nugent and possibly Forsyth would be the most likely, but like you...I’m only guessing.

yes Basie Nigel never had any money that's why he spent. £1million on Conner Salmon who must be the worst player to ever wear a Derby shirt
