The Premier League has appointed former electrician, Mark Clattenburg to officiate Sunday's match (14/02/16) between Manchester City and Tottenham.

One of the busiest and most trusted referee's in England, Clattenburg has been in charge of 31 matches this season during which he's brandished 100 yellow and five red cards.

In addition, the 40-year old is only one of two Premier League referee's to have been named as going to this year’' Euro 2016 competition.

Can't recall. City are one of three sides with no red cards this season - the other two being Spirs and Leicester.

It still astounds me that we pick up so many bookings - we have had 45 in the league this season. Everton have been only issued with 33 which is unbelievable considering the kickings we have taken from them this season alone.

Admittedly I missed the game today but I have seen the incident and I am mindful of numerous turn downs we have had this season. Live co-commentators, pundits, hacks and Howard Webb have described the refusals as being because of a need for the ref to be absolutely 100% certain.

Did Clattenburg immediately give it?

Nope, took about 4-5 seconds of "deliberation".

IE he had to think whether he'd be able to get away with it or not.

No he did not. He seemed at first to be giving a free kick and appeared, IMO, to change his mind. I will have to watch it again but it is almost as if he realised that this was the chance. Can't imagine we would get that decison at the other end.

Of course we wouldn't, the **** doesn't like us, he's proved it many times in the past.
 
Clattenburg should be investigated. Either he is the master of serial ineptitude and should be banned from the PL, or he is available to the highest bidder and should be in jail
 
I still remember the ridiculous motions he made with his hands when Richards was taken out in the penalty area by Anderson during the 1-6 defeat of the rags. Clearly a penalty but he managed to make out it was an accident.

His pause before giving the decision today was telling in my eyes.
