It's been confirmed he won't be suspended from competitive matches for his red card against Colchester, so is available for Saturday.

Quite frankly I wouldn't have minded if he had been suspended. He needs to learn the lesson.

Not sure what you would have done if some bastard was trying to strangle you, blow him a kiss

Yes i probably would actually. Particularly in a preseason friendly. Firstly there's nothing more annoying than somebody trying to annoy you but you being perfectly nice back, almost to the point of patronising nice (I.e. blowing them a kiss).

Secondly, it's a bloody friendly. While you want players to win all games youve got to have a bit of sense about you and realise there's a line not worth going anywhere near in a friendly.

The “strangling” was after Byrne had committed the foul. You can only imagine what Byrne had done for their Captain to then throttle him like that.

Even before the sending off how sure could Byrne be of selection. He was possibly guilty of over enthusiasm trying to prove right to a place in the team. Not picking him would confirm his fears, he will be back were he started when he signed for us.

Don't get why people are surprised this went on in a pre season games .(happens in plenty of pre season game and was mild compared to the Sheff Wed v Mansfield game the other night) To the players this is a crucial time of the season in establishing themselves and as important as a league game, in terms of proving their worth, and being 3-0 down probably didn't help with Byrne's aggression and sometimes they go to far, just like they do in league games. Most players are instinctive and don't think on a pitch like they would do outside of a football pitch. These are competitive to the extreme athletes, who are a team and will fight for each other and even with their own teammates in training on occasions.

More surprising to me is given that picture how the Colchester player didn't get sent off.
