Mario

I have the opportunity to watch Serie A here in the US. I watched today's Cagliari vs. AC Milan match. During the match, Mario went for the ball at the same time as someone else, did not make it in time, fouled him and...nothing happened aside from a free kick. The opposing players didn't demand he be booked, the referee didn't gesticulate wildly to show how mad he was, the opposing coach and fans didn't bay for his head, the game just went on. How is it that Italy he can "get away" with simple challenges, while in England he was vilified for even coming near a player? I'd say it has something to do with the color of his skin, but the Italians have more issues with racism than the English do, so that's out of the question. Is it because he plays for Milan? If that's the case then it leads me to my other conclusion, that had he gone to the rags, arsenal, chelsea, or the former first division champions who share a city with Everton, he would be a national hero for his play. It's a sad world we live in as sports fans if that's true.

I mentioned this after his debut Philly. I think it's simply because he's an Italian international playing in Italy.

That's probably the case, BD. It's disappointing to see the press only want English players performing well instead of inviting the best players in the world and letting them develop in the league.

Fellaini seems to be of the opinion that English players get shown leeway too.

"I am not angry with Shawcross. He tried to stop me, and was just doing his job. But his hands were all over me the whole time. However, nobody said a word against him.

"He is English after all, so no problem!"
