Mario Balotelli admits that leaving City was an emotional wrench but has vowed never to forget his time with the Blues.

After signing for Milan the Italian striker spoke candidly about his last day as a Premier League player, his relationship with Roberto Mancini and his love for "the best fans in England".

“For sure I will remember my brilliant team-mates, the manager and all the supporters. They are the best, they were great with me and I will always have a very special place in my heart for City, it’s a great club with a great future,” he declared. “I thank them for all of their support of me. Maybe one day we will see each other again.

"I think to win the Premier League was a very special moment, and I am proud to have been a part of that".

Balotelli said goodbye to his teammates at the pre-match dinner in the hotel ahead of the 0-0 draw at QPR and admitted it had been a poignant moment.

“Yes, I said goodbye to everyone at the meal in London before the game at Queens Park Rangers. It was a very emotional for me,” he said

“I spoke with Roberto before I went to speak to the players. We spoke for some time about lots of things. He was sad, and I was too. But it was a good conversation. I love Roberto, he has been very important for my career, and I will always thank him for having trust and faith in me".

“Being at City was an important part of my life and career. I needed to grow up like a player and as a person and it has been a very good experience for me".

As Balotelli touched down to join Nigel de Jong at the San Siro, he paid tribute to the City supporters for making him feel so welcome at the Etihad Stadium.

“I will remember, too, the song that City fans had for me. It was special for me and I always liked to hear it. I hope they can still sing it sometimes still, even if I’m not there. Someone told me the fans sang it at QPR; that is nice".

“I will always be interested in Manchester City and their fortunes. I really hope that City can win the league again this year and beat United. I think there are great players at the Club and a great manager too. The club will be very successful in the future and that makes me happy.”

Roberto Mancini admitted that the 22-year old will be missed and wished him all the best in this new chapter of his career.

“With Mario we won the FA Cup, we won the Premier League and the Community Shield," Mancini said.

“We are very sorry for him because he leaves the club but we hope Mario can continue to improve and continues to work hard because he is a top, top player.”

Farewell to this young, undoubtedly talented player An enigma wrapped in a puzzle.

It has been said on other threads but bears reiteration here - thank you for your MotM performance against the rags in the FA Cup semi Final, for that wink afterwards and for THAT pass to Sergio Aguero on the bright sunny afternoon of 13th May 2012 :hat off:

:bye: and good luck.

Ok, without tempting fate and barring an implosion of form of massive proportions.......what are the odds that City pull AC Milan in the next season's CL?

I sincerely hope not, it's bad enough having to watch the likes of Ned playing against us t'other night. I don't think I could cope with watching Nige and Mario playing against us.

What? No Robinho in that equation dub? lmao

No doubt that twat will have something to say in the coming days...

Yes. Probably some sh*t about City/Mancini 'not understanding talent' or the like. :clown:

LOL

I've seen some headlines regarding Robinho welcoming Mario on Newsnow over the past few days but I've ignored them.

I think its a good move all round but I am getting concerned that the spending is bing effected by the financial rules and that could spell disaster for more trophies. Are we getting stronger or weaker, I suppose is the question and are we strong enough judged on our Champions League explits is another?

Of course our spending is affected by FFP, that's what I was trying to tell you all summer ;-)

If we're weaker it's a psychological thing because the quality in terms of footballing ability we have is the same.

The club is definitely getting stronger even if the team is not at the moment, which bodes well for success in the long term.

Bluedub .... as usual do not follow your 'logic'. How come we are not weaker in footballing ability having lost Balotelli and not replaced ...... must be me being pyschological.

Couple of ways at looking at this imo, one is that now we have a better balance in our forward line, the three that are remaining will get more of a consistent run of games, which should help form.

The second is that to many Mario was seen as a liability and/or a distraction so his removal from the squad should be a positive.

Can you understand that logic?

It's funny Willy that others seem to be able to follow my logic and have a reasoned debate but you can't.

I do not intend to be drawn in to your aggressive - I'm always right style . What a way to start your original reply ... "Its what I've been trying to tell you all summer" (you didnt quite use the word Stupid but that was the inference) and that was in response to a quite inoccuous post, querying whether we were getting stronger and which I left up in the air for debate. You dont debate though, you attack for some reason best known to yourself ...others have had the same problem with you in the past if I recall correctly .... lets just draw a line as two City fans. And you are a moderator .... irony on irony!!

Notice the wink at the end of my comment Willy, that was put there for a reason. I apologise of I offended you , that was not my intention.

You want to draw a line after accusing me of attacking others with my "I'm always right style" and then you throw in another dig at the end. Nice.

I am glad, he made some nice comments about City, but you did get the feeling that only occasionally did he give his heart and soul.

He was disillusioned about his treatment from the referees and most of it was true and he was not as such a bad boy as misunderstood.

However I loved him, he was an entertainer and I think 5th named him once Mr Mario Marmite how true that was.

Yep Buzz it was hard to dislike him and there were cameo contributions of real importance but for someone of his potential talent was their the required level of consistent contribution? I wish him well and feel he will be more comfortable in his native country and that this may lead to more headlines on the pitch rather than off it.

Did we get him too soon?

i think so buzz. he goes to milan ready to embark on a new challenge , peak fitness and will probably have his best footballing years there. i look forward to watching him develop without the added stress and hassle. who knows, the mario circus may never end?

I hope he does not end up going from club to club staying only short periods and ending up in obscurity and wondering what might have been.

Mmm.....interesting.
