Marinakis entitled?

The point is few of those fans in the clubs wanted the move but money and situation forced a movement. EM is talking about more than a stadium move. He wants training, academy and sports village on one site. Massive footprint. It means WFCG, County Ground, Cattle market and sports field or all of toton site. Both will need complete restructuring of transport and support structures. Both will require income streams beyond football. This is not about Stadium replacement like at Derby, Leics or Newcastle. This will make Broadmarsh look small fry.
I get all that.

Our badge has the river Trent flowing beneath it. One of, if not the most recognisable badge in world football. Our anthem is all about the City Ground, and the mist rolling in from the Trent. We're Nottingham Forest, not Nottinghamshire Forest.

Moving out to Toton would be practical, maybe even sensible, but heartless, soulless and a move away from the Nottingham Forest we know. It's not just moving to a new ground. Moving to some brownfield site on the fringes of Derbyshire would damage the very fabric of Nottingham Forest.

I understand the need to develop, to expand, and to grow. But at what cost? It's a tough situation and I'm not sure there is a "right" answer. I just hope a better solution than Toton comes to light.

They had the very same argument when Arsenal moved from Highbury.

The traditionalists claimed they could not move, it would destroy the soul of the Club; the Archibald Leach Stands, the Marble Halls, the Herbert Chapman bust, and so on.

The modernists won, because money always prevails, and they have not looked back.

If we go down the correct route, that is building something to be proud of and not just another flat pack arena, I think most people will be on board.

Being able to stage an NFL game a Rugby Final and half a dozen music events a year would transform the Clubs finances out of all recognition.

the same argument was had at spurs- they nearly went to the Olympic park and Enfield before staying where they were...

completely agree tho about needing a stadium that can work more than once a week. Dunno about revolving incinerator but we will need a retractable pitch

Arsenals anthem and badge aren't intrinsically linked to their stadium. I'm genuinely concerned that everything uniquely Forest goes out the window and we're just another club with nowt much special about them. A grand history, but now a modern, uninteresting club without any tradition or character.

Oh mist rolling in from the Erewash doesn't quite have the same ring to it.

Sorry, I get the practicality of it all. But my desire, is always to be here. We sing it loud and proud every game.
Mull Of Kintyre was released in 1974, whereas the clubs is 159 years old.
The badge will remain as part of our history.

Things change, and if the Toton Megabowl guarantees the upwards progression of Forest, I will not argue.

We only started singing it, in the format we do now since about 2008-ish too.
Personally, I don't think we should do it at the start of the 2nd half, but there we go.
We used to run out to the original 'Robin Hood theme' I lamented when that changed.
I hate the fact we ditched 'Just can't get enough' when we win, as that has a tattoo on my memory of the glorious promotion season.
We used to sing 'Oh Nottingham, is full of fun...' from all areas of the ground!
We used to have 'Chelsea Dagger' as the goal music. I don't miss that.

Customs/traditions change and evolve with generations.

I have to say - I am slowly coming round to the idea.
I read the article in the mail and one thought stuck in my mind, which I have been saying for years.
Nottingham has gone backwards over the last decade or so, other cities, like Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham and even Leicester are growing and there is loads of investment in new infrastructure and their economies are benefitting because of this. We desperately need new investment in Nottingham for the future generations and benefit of the city. Taking the emotion out of it - this could be massive for Nottingham as a city - Who are we to stop it?

Indeed, its not to denigrate people's individual traditions, but collectively they are somewhat transient.

Probably being a little selfish here, though, as the Toton AstroArena would be, little more than, a 30 min walk for me.

Obvs, as people flag, the transport links would need expanding beyond all recognition to cater for the thousands who will attend.

How long have we been singing it though?
20 years with the gusto we sing it now?

That's not right! Mull of Kintyre goes back way earlier as a Forest song. Indeed, on the We got the Whole World in our hands record 1978, the crowd singing MoK is the outro

Correct, which is why I put, “We only started singing it, in the format we do now since about 2008-ish too”

I remember singing it in the late 90s

We did, but not with the intro from the tannoy.
The crowd sang it, but not orchestrated at the start of every match.
I may have the dates wrong, but the pre-kickoff orchestrated rendition is relatively recent.

You may be right, it wasn't with the tannoy in the 90s. I have no idea when they started doing that to be honest.

I know we started born slippy in about 2000. No idea why we still do it, since for me it was always David Platt's intro

You could see why Liverpool might have it for Steven Gerrard. Personally, Born Slippy gets the hair on the back of my neck standing. I like all the warm up songs.

theres possibly a right answer. If your ambition is to generate huge commercial revenue, maybe own a shipping or development company and not be involved in a small city football club but go build your vanity project in Dubai?

but its pretty mcuh the opposite it seems, its exacty why its historic location is so important, that can generate funds where they are needed and they are not needed in toten, give that to the trees

Expect a new badge. We will all get used to it…..
