Man's best friend

As said before, our vet were happy to charge a tenner for the prescriptions and then point us in the right direction given we'd save a bundle on the meds that could wait a day or two to be started.

Least they should all do really given you have no choice on the meds that need starting immediately.
Got to go back Tuesday to check progress.
Another £57 consultation fee for an appointment that will last less than five minutes max.
Whatever happened too the investigation into these robbing bastards.

Bubbling in the background last I heard, took too long to get started and like all reviews, it'll probably be an 18 month job at best annoyingly.

Pooch has a trip to the vets today. Had an apparent cut on her leg which she has made worse by gnawing it . We patched it up yesterday but she's created a new sore above the bandage . Basically the attempt to avoid the vets has failed miserably .

Sympathy.
Ours was spayed three weeks ago, just recovered and now has an ear infection and we have a second appointment for that today.

Update. As expected. A minor cut which she has made worse by gnawing.

Now the proud owner for the first time in her 8 years of a (pink) cone. This isn't going to go down well with her.

I do sometimes wonder why we bother, but it would be so quiet without them.

Our old girls are over 12 now, and I'm starting to dread waking up and finding them dead. Its such a relief to have that big brown bear of a dog snuffling in my ear at 7 am. Yesterday it didn't happen. I got up, and she was flat out on my stepdaughter's bedroom floor, not moving. I couldn't see her breathing. I said her name, still nothing, I touched her, and she shot up like a bolt from a gun, frightened the life out of me. I was so happy she was still with us.

Our eldest is a poor bugger. Had no interest in even a small walk for the last 3 days, but showed a bit of interest tonight after I'd come back from taking the youngest. So back out we went. She got half way across the road and her legs went. Thankfully she had time to recover before a car along and then she was slow, but back to enjoying herself and sniffing everything we came across.

Admittedly we went maybe 20-25 metres in length, with another fall, before we circled back - which is obviously nothing really, but that now seems to be her new limit.

Even the youngest (usually a puller) has now learned that when Kaia's with us when she stops for a breather, just have a little sit down and when she does have a little fall, Ebbie now walks over and gives her a little nose rub which is quite sweet to watch.

She's now sprawled out like one of those Lion/Tiger rugs having a good sleep.

I miss having a dog but dont miss getting uo at stupid oclock in the morening in the winter to walk said dog.

At least the cat I can lob out the door and not feel guilty.

Get a rescue that doesn't demand as much on a walk front mate. Best of both worlds then.

Nahhhh, 40 years dog ownership. All our dogs were someone elses fuck up....
We gave them all a happy loving home and all that go's with it, the last rescue was Fern (so name because she was abandoned on Dartmoor) although she was always terrified of horses when she passed she ripped my heart out.

Having said that we did take on an abandoned cat, I have nicknamed him "Nollickass" because he dont clean himself as much as he should.

I think it might be one of those weeks. Had both barking/howling at me tonight as although they were bloody eating they seemed to object to me going to the shop without them and very much told me so when I got back.

Got more of a walk into the eldest tonight without a fall, albeit she was wobbly at the end but I think I called it right distance was. But second walk with the youngest, we met an old neighbour (still don't know her name after 20 odd years lol) but her kids got her a little Jack Russ following her husband's passing and it was the first time we'd met properly.

Ebbie went in like usual, and then quickly got very quiet when she realised this 8 month old was mental, boundless energy and after two minutes rolling around on the floor she got confident and was either trying to nip her nose or jump on her back for a ride.

That is the first time I've seen our youngest walk so calmly alongside any dog other than our eldest lol She just didn't know what to do as she's used to being the mental one.

I made the mistake of bending down for a kiss and promptly got bit on the nose as well, but you know when a pup is so excited to meet that they end up doing cartwheels and flips and defeat their own purpose by actually moving further away from you in the process, I didn't really give it much of a fuss as I was catching the bloody thing so it didn't face plant on the floor.

But the thing that made me laugh the loudest, as she explained her kids got her the dog, one of them said 'but it was dad's dream to get another dog and we're making it happen'.

Her response.

He's fucking dead. What does it have to do with me?

Really tickled me.

I miss having a dog, but these days I get enjoyment from seeing other people with nice ones and videos etc that make me smile.

Why don't you get another dog I hear you say?

Well after spending every glorious day together as best friends for nearly 13 years, I just can't go through that heartache ever again of losing another one.
