Manchester City v Arsenal - 6pm BST Sunday 7th August - pre-season friendly Match Day Thread

Alert Team
Almost totally forgot this friendly was being played (hectic time)!

City travel to Sweden for their final fixture in what feels like a rather disjointed pre-season build up. The final chance new coach Pep Guardiola will have to tinker with his formations and them selection prior to the blood and thunder of the Premier League season.

I would expect new signing Letoy Sane to get some game time but as for the reminder - it is anybody's guess.

Sanchez, Wilshere, Mertersacker, Gabriel and Welbeck will all be missing for this game and the start of the new season. New signing Xhaka is likely to feature for Arsene Wenger's side. Wenger appears to have already stirred Maureen's juices after having the temerity to answer a question from a journalist about the size of the fee likely to be shelled out for Pogba.

My hope for the game - a decent performance and returning to the uk with zero injuries.

Come on City!!

Pep Effect May Ruffle Arsene's Feathers

Will the Pep Guardiola effect riffling through Manchester be enough to ruffle Arsene Wenger's feathers?

I would be delighted if we beat the entitled ones today. What I am expecting from a Guardiola team is a complete reversal of the meek approach we saw so much of last season.

I am anticipating increasingly a sudden offload. I was in Las Vegas last weekend and was told Nasri had been partying all over California for the two previous months driving a Rolls Royce with Lionel Richie's youngest.

Not surprised he turned up in terrible shape. Going going..?

SSN saying Leroy is not in squad due to a "minor injury". They are also reporting Alexis Sanchez will feature to gain fitness after his injury.

I think it is added to their contract when new players join.

"Should the player not already have an injury on joining the new club he must, under all circumstances, incur one during the first training session or whilst exiting his newly purchased super car" :004:

City starting XI to face Arsenal: Caballero, Zabaleta, Fernando, Kolarov, Clichy, Fernandinho, Silva, Delph, Nolito, Sterling, Aguero

City Now Just now OS

HT in Gottenberg City lead 1-0, with Aguero supplying the finish to Sterling cross as described above by Citizun.

We should be 3 or 4 down but this is due in part to the very poor finishing by Arsenal and the attempt by the City defenders to play it from the back, but if the opposition know you are going to do this then they will jump on you just like Arsenal have done on numerous occasions today. The absence of any recognised center backs has not helped together with the slowness of Kolarov who is used to booting it up field down the line and it is catching us out.

City then through Big Willy have mixed it up and this has paid dividends in getting the goal as Arsenal has pushed too far up, but a perfect cross with a slight deflection from an Arsenal Defender fell to Aguero and there it was in the back of the net.

Following the goal City have played well without creating anything but if this is the team that Pep puts out next Saturday, I will eat my hat, if I had one.
