Manchester City FC vs. Tottenham Hotspur

Starting this one early because I am vibrating with excitement!

Same team as this week. Only debate is Davies or Wimmer.

Win and we are top 4.

I can't see city and united winning 2/3 more games than us.

3 at the back, Davies, he plays that for Wales.
4 at the back , Wimmer, did it well last season.

Has to be 3 at the back. Best formation for our players. Davies in for Verts, the rest of the team picks itself for this one.

Who's turning up with the psychogical advantage to this game?

We're fielding a team in great form, radiating confidence, only missing one starter (hopefully that will still be the case come game time).

They will be desperate to get a win, and in many cases a team losing badly will get their act together and win the following game.

A draw?

Our confidence is flowing and oozing, whilst theirs is ebbing and disappearing.......

As long as they don't think of themselves as a wounded animal and fight to the teeth, .we can put them to bed at theirs.

We need to get another early goal as did Everton and then they leave huge gaps as they try to equalise.

Their defence is not good at the moment, but they can still hurt you if the Silva's and Aguerro's are on song.

COYS ...lets have some Saturday Night Fever and dance around them!.

Everton was the biggest league loss in his career, so no. The bubble is bursting.

City will make mistakes but we need to be clinical. Everton scored with all of their 4 shots on target and only missed the target twice.

It might be good to remember we have beaten City the last 3 games in a row.

4-1
1-2
2-0

We have it in us. :35:

I haven't had a bad feeling for a long time but for some reason I have a bad feeling about this, we're obviously more than capable of winning but I can see a defeat. If we win though I think we are going to go close to winning the league, huge game.

Yesterday, City had the following over 30's in their line-up - Sagna (33), Clichy (31), Toure (33), Zabaleta (32), Silva (31). That's 5 over 30's in the defence and midfield. You have to feel sorry for Pep because even the backup players like Fernandinho, Navas, Kompany, Kolarov and Nolito are over 30 as well. He'll never implement his philosophy on City when half their squad are in the twilight of their career. Instead he'll have to use all of his tactical nous to come up with a system to nullify us. You can never write them off though.

As for the Wimmer vs Davies debate, I'd opt for Davies in this one.

Pep came here thinking every game from the "lesser" teams would be marked with them respecting our squad quality and it would a 3-0 stroll away at every week at Tenerife/Getafe.

West Ham 5-0 is what he is used to in Spain/Germany, teams who try until they concede and then they wilt.
He assumed this league was inferior and now he isn't even scrambling to recover.

He's starting to look like Villas Boas.

Don't like the guy, don't like his comments about us fans (that was a big turn off).

He looks alarmingly out of his depth,
Old red nose at the swamp would have put him in a psych ward with mind games by now.

Thank god he's not around.

They look all over the place at the moment but they still have the players to hurt us.
We must play with the same team as against West Brom with the exception of Verts of course. Davies to come in for Verts.
Play our high intensity game and our forwards will run rings around there defenders.
Dembele to snuff out Toure and I think the win will be ours.

They do have the players to hurt us rackny but they do not have the defence to keep us at bay. You saw what we did to them at the lane and I feel the same will happen this week. We will bully them all over the park. Flair players hate that and citeh have a few of them. They dont have the muscle in the middle of the park and without kompany guiding him stones looks awful.

We should not lose to them if we are on our game.

We are going to win and they will struggle to finish top 4.

I think he makes a great point about Pep's mentality, his recent post and even prematch interviews were rambling shambles and he looked like he'd had the stuffing knocked out of him; if he's transferring that sort of anxiety to his players, then all we'll need is an early goal to see them fall apart..

We can go there expecting to win, we can match or better them in almost every position, their keeper would destroy any teams confidence, let alone a team not playing the way they did at the start of the season...

I would play Davies and keep to the back three, it makes us a better attacking team and doesn't reduce our defensive abilities, as recent results confirm.

As for the game.....Well a few weeks ago we would be happy with a draw, and if we do draw then that's a good result. But, if as we have been doing, we go for it, then I think we can take them.

Our state of mind should be confident but not overly, they will be wary of us and rightly so, score an early goal and who knows we can effectively put them behind us for the season.

It's funny how we all see things differently, I think Wimmer is a far superior footballer to Davies, think he reads the game better defensively, rarely gets caught in a bad position and is better in the air - I feel Davies tries to hard too be a wingback, but doesn't have the pace to recover the way a W-B needs to.

Good player, just not as good as Wimmer, who I think is far more solid, pick him and we won't be throwing caution to the wind. something which I feel would be foolish against ManC at their home...

It will be interesting to see what Poch does, especially as Davies is apparently on Pep's potential 'money no object' buy list...

My first inclination would be to play Wimmer in place of the injured Vert. While Davies has played in that position internationally, Wimmer is the more natural CB with the strength and positional awareness (especially with Toby marshalling the back three) to handle ManCity.

Other than that I would not make any changes from the team that looked so impressive at the weekend.

I also think Wimmer is the superior footballer, but in a back 3 I think Davies fits the bill, being a natural left footed fullback. In a back four Wimmer every time, but to basically continue as we have been going then yeah I think Davies
