The dreadful revelations regarding the activities of serial paedophile Barry Bennell have shocked the footballing world with ex-City players Paul Stewart and David White amongst those reporting that they had been abused by this man.

The Guardian report that Manchester City FC have issued the following statement: --

“The club is aware of allegations that Barry Bennell had an association with Manchester City football club in the 1980s. As a result the club is currently undertaking a thorough investigation of any past links he might have had with the organisation.”

The news that he may have had links to City and the Platt Lane training ground are disturbing and we can only hope that the investigation initiated by the club assists the authorities in progressing the overall enquiry.

All City fans would wish all the very best to those affected by the actions of this despicable man and hope that the full facts coming to light can aid the on going recovery of anyone dealing with the aftermath of such abuse.

I have never heard of Barry Bennell until recently, but i am glad that the Club have issued a statement on this bearing on mind that David White a City top player and Paul Stewart are just two players who have connections with City.

It is the bravery of people like David and Paul to come forward and stop these people, but sometimes far to late

This is going to end up very messy. BUT if it weeds the criminals out of society and into prison and the victims are dealt with, with courtesy, compassion and understanding then that's fine by me.

I could go on a rant about these sorts of undesirables who still walk our streets but I will refrain myself, for now. :019:

Went to Chelsea Vital to have a go at our old mate Maka but the place seems to be dead nowadays. Had a few laughs on their site previously.
Anyway, Merlin has posted on their home page an article about some abuse their and seemingly it's been discovered that money may have been paid to obtain a cover up.
Makes one wonder doesn't it.
They could be facing big sanctions if this is true.

There will have been people around Bennell who will have known, or will have had their suspicions - why didn't they come forward, shades of the BBC perhaps where people thought there was 'something' going on or heard rumours. Blame it on the 'culture' of the times? Hope I'm wrong but might clubs might have turned a blind eye just as long as everything was ok out on the park?

And is it still happening?

Prison is the only option - castration will only work until the first innocent person is convicted. Plus it will give license to mob rule and how long before they take law into their own hands and mete out their own form of street justice. In the U.S attacks by racists have increased in the wake of Trumps victory as his rhetoric has given their beliefs valediction. Mobs aren't the brightest, look at football supporters for a start off, everything tends to be black and white, especially if you support newcastle or Derby County.

Joking aside let's hope this isn't the tip of a massive iceberg, that those that are guilty get punished appropriately and that the survivors get the support and compassion they need.

With the disaster in Columbia it hasn't been a great time for soccer recently.

I am sure we would leave the castrations for those that are found guilty where the evidence is so overwhelming to be the case.

I would for it to be a DIY with supervision of course.

Going slightly :053: here, but shouldn't every guilty verdict be on that basis?
Ched Evans was found guilty. Then he wasn't.

Not every case is clear cut, eg those who are convicted on circumstantial evidence, where there is only one witness which cannot be corroborated. majority verdicts, there are numerous example where one could say that is not absolute and therefore the punishment of having ones balls cut off may be too close to call.

Think they would be calling out pretty loudly if they were in danger of having their pills cut off!
