Manchester City-FC Porto Champions League Game One Post Match Thread

This does leave a lot of player one yellow away from a one-match ban whereas Pepe should have seen red on the night
Yes. The cheap and easy nature with which the referee flourished his card showed real weakness. There were several Porto players who could have been carded for persistent foul play and/or simulation or time wasting. Pepe a) fouled Sterling initially as he made zero contact wit( the ball & b) then proceeded to knee him whilst on the ground which was a variable offence in itself.

The accumulation of cards is a slow game approach to hampering progress. The impact is felt in subsequent matches and can affect outcomes by weakening the team and impacting on tactical decisions and team selection.

Nobbled.
An old-fashioned word, not much used these days but sums it up perfectly for me. Every European fixture we play we are nobbled.
