🔹 Manchester City are unbeaten in our six games against Borussia Monchengladbach in the Champions League (won four, drawn one), scoring at least two goals in each of our four victories

🔹 Borussia's previous trip to City ended in their joint-heaviest defeat away from home in the Champions League (4-0).
🔹 Since losing three consecutive home games in the competition between March and September 2018, City have won 11 of our last 12 Champions League home outings (drawn one) - averaging 3.2 goals per game in this run.
🔹 Borussia Monchengladbach have never previously won away to English opponents in the European Cup/Champions League (drawn one, lost three), while they have conceded Ten goals in the last two trips - 4-2 in 2015-16 and 4-0 in 2016-17, and tonight 2-0 all against Manchester City
🔹 Since the start of the 2016-17 season, Raheem Sterling has scored 13 goals in home games for City in the Champions League (20 appearances) - the most of any player for the club and also the most by an English player in the competition in this period.
🔹 City striker Sergio Aguero has scored 19 goals in 29 Champions League games during Pep Guardiola's time in charge. If he had found the net in this game, he would have equalled Thomas Muller (20) and trail only Lionel Messi (43) for most goals scored in the competition under Guardiola.

It's been a really nice, comfortable second half for Manchester City. It's not been a lazy one, it's been very controlled. But the first half was absolutely superb.

Man City 2-0 Borussia Monchengladbach (agg 4-0)

It's all over. Manchester City move into the Champions League quarter-finals with a very controlled victory over Borussia Monchengladbach.
Riyad Mahrez was inches away from adding a third with the last kick.

He’s still young too. He will go past purple conk with ease. Let’s hope it’s with us.

Looking at the City bench at the moment, I'd take 7-8 of them in the Man Utd first team. And we're second in the league. I'd like it if we had enough money to buy an NFL sized squad full of world class players as well.

'We controlled the game'
FT: Man City 2-0 Borussia Monchengladbach (agg 4-0)

Manchester City midfielder Kevin de Bruyne to BT Sport: "The start helps a lot. We were patient in the beginning. When we scored the two goals... we controlled the game and we had a few chances.

"The second half was a little less but that's unerstandable with all the games we've eplayed. With a 4-0 aggregate lead it was a little bit less."

On their clean sheet record: "It's always important when you are stable as a defence and team. Obviously it gives the whole team confidence. It's really nice for Ederson and the defenders."

Pep Guardiola obviously said to his City side before the game 'don't make any mistakes'. If you look at the one blemish for City recently - the Manchester United defeat - it was an early goal, so Pep was not having any of that tonight!

After the goals in the first half, it was job done and then it was about game management. It's an easy thing to say, but very few teams can control it like that and decide what the tempo is going to be.

'Everyone moved the ball quickly'
FT: Man City 2-0 Borussia Monchengladbach (agg 4-0)

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola on BT Sport: "It was a good performance, we controlled the game from the beginning. This competition is tricky but after the two goals everything was easier - everyone in their position moved the ball quick.

"A lot of players like Phil Foden, Bernando Silva, they have a lot of quality, they help us a lot but everyone was so committed and we are delighted to be in the next stage.

"We only conceded one goal against Porto - that is impressive. It's an incredible step forward for the team. Everyone runs a lot, not just the strikers. But it's important to understand that we defend with the ball. We have to be aggressive without the ball. All the teams right now, the quality they have, they can punish you.

"After the international break, we will have time to think. The quality every time is higher and hopefully we can maintain this mood. I always think when you go through you deserve it. We try to play good and we will see what happens.

"We now have everybody fit. That's why we can rotate six or seven players. If you want to compete for competitions you have to be fresh. The seasons are so long, we haven't had one long week since October."

I honestly believe Pep Guardiola knows Manchester City has every chance of winning the three domestic trophies - it's the Champions League that is the big one.
