Manchester City and Chelsea charged over player behaviour

We knew this was coming.....

Manchester City and Chelsea have been charged by the Football Association for failing to control their players during the Premier League game on Saturday.

After Pep's apology, I expect City will accept the charge but that Chelsea will get all lawyered up and try and weasel their way out of it.

Still cant believe no action against any Chelsea players, if Maureen had still been in charge, eye gouging would be the order of the day lol

Taylor insulated them by booking Chalobah and Fabregas. As soon as he did that I figured they would be immune from further sanction. Disgraceful really - especially as Chalobah assaulted Agüero directly in front of Taylor & should have been red carded.

I can't believe the FA have condoned the slap, not matter how soft, so any player can slap an opponent and that's ok, because F25 didn't go down like a ton of bricks (as he should gave done)

Taylor it seems will be back officiating in the Premier this weekend and they say there in no agenda

As soon as I heard he had been booked I knew there would be no further action. If that or Chalobah had committed those acts under any other circumstances - at a corner, in th entire circle - during a game they would have been dealt with by red cards.

The decision by Taylor to give them yellow cards after the melee stinks to high heaven. He saw Chlobah shove Agüero with both hands sending the player to the floor. If he saw Fabregas raise his hand to another player's face why didn't he issue a red card?; if he didn't see it, why was he given a yellow card?; if he didn't see Fabregas do anything........why did he book him?

The absence of retrospective action for both players stinks :019:

Have to question why Chelsea are getting charged if their players were only guilty of a couple of yellow card offences.

*insert tongue in cheek emoticon here*

I feel like I am inhabiting a parallel universe at times.

What a **cking stitch up

Unbelievable

I have considered all the opinions on this and I have to say Taylor caused the frustration and the Luiz 'foul' in which he puts his whistle to his mouth and then waves play on.

Many feel that the Assistant referee said something to him, (he could not tell from that distance that it was not a foul) and therefore the only thing that could have been said was............ 'Tony, he is the last defender'

I have expressed the same opinion. Taylor was going to give a free kick, his body language and actions all indicate he saw it as an obstruction and was going to blow for a free kick.........

.....and then he inexplicably changes his mind. He doesn't make the arms wide 'play on ' gesture or do anything to indicate that he believes there has been no incident/foul (the low waving of arms crossing over).....he just stands there frozen.

And i believe that he was told by his assistant that Luiz was the last man and a free kick would have meant a red card and he bottled it.

I wonder if we haven't been the victim of Maureen's comments about him before the rags played the dippers. For questioning his impartiality before the Liverpool v Rag game did he cause Taylor to fear being biased towards Manchester clubs? (coupled with the widely held belief that he is a rag himself)?

Yep, I mentioned that on another thread, the rags played a blinder on that one.

Should give Mauereen more credit. Two birds with one stone. A ban worth taking if it means the side managed by your hated rival also gets disadvantaged.

Conte says that they should not be punished for the brawl which was not if their making as his players tried to keep calm.

Is this right? Will the FA just find City guilty?

Taking out the refs involvement in this, The tackle by Aguero would have run its course and would have got a red rightly (whether Hairbear should have been on the field anyway is another story)
I hope the FA see it this way, because had the Chelsea player not run and shoved SA10 with both hands which could have caused Sergio serious injury there would have been no fisticuffs and F25 does not get a red card.

Yes this one is down to Chelsea but will walk away scot free with City getting the points reduction

Indeed. In fact it could be said that had Chalobah not run over a shoved Agüero then the whole meleé may never have escalated or at lest not to the degree that it did.

......but the mere fact that he received a yellow card for what was a red card offence leads me to the belief that they will throw the book at City. Had he been red carded or the yellow retrospectively upgraded then the balance might have looked more even. But we are the club with two players off the pitch after the incident and so I think we will be judged culpable for the whole sad affair.

I will be surprised if this is not the case. It felt like a stitch up from the moment Taylor bottled the decision over Luiz.
