Managerial merry go round

From the Beeb,

'Oxford United have sacked head coach Matt Bloomfield following their relegation to League One.

The 42-year-old replaced Gary Rowett in January and despite some encouraging results and performances in the second half of the season, he was unable to keep them in the Championship.

Oxford said Bloomfield had "represented Oxford United with professionalism and integrity".'

Unfortunately, "professionalism and integrity" are not characteristics we value at Oxford so we have no choice but to let him go.

Seems that Craig Bellamy is leaving the Wales job to return to Burnley.

No great loss so far as we (the Welsh) are concerned.

Possibly to be replaced by Steve Cooper or Rob Edwards, either of whom would be an improvement.

Interesting that you say that.

The coverage that we (England) receive regarding the other home nations is relentlessly positive, regardless of results. I'm sure it comes from a desperation not to be seen as arrogant English, but it just comes across as patronising and ill informed.

If you only listened to the English coverage of Bellamy you'd think he was a genius.
Similarly with Scotland at the world cup, they're so brave, and their fans are amazing, they even clean up their rubbish.

With it being a 48 team tournament, 16 uefa countries qualifying, and a home play off against Bosnia, I'd say he's underperformed in not qualifying.

I'm not sure but his Wikipedia profile reads like it was written either by him or his agent.

Following an impressive start to the 2024–25 season, Bloomfield was named EFL League One Manager of the Month for October 2024 as he led Wycombe into the automatic promotion places. A further four wins from four saw him win the award for a second consecutive month.
On 14 January 2025, Bloomfield was appointed manager of EFL Championship side Luton Town with a three-and-a-half-year contract. Despite a run of six wins from their final twelve games Luton were relegated to the EFL League One at the end of the season after a 5–3 defeat away at West Bromwich Albion On 6 October 2025 he was dismissed by Luton after a poor run of results, with the club in 11th place in the league.
On 9 January 2026, Bloomfield was appointed head coach of Championship club Oxford United. On 25 April 2026, Oxford United were relegated from the Championship to League One.

can't feel too sorry for them can you? That's two decent pay offs he's had, probably.
The championship grass definitely can turn out not to be greener though for a successful L1 manager.

This is exactly how the Welsh see it. He started off positively, but persevered in picking favourite players who were at best average.

The football got slower and slower and substitutions anything but positive.

Wales has a pretty decent squad and are capable of much better. I think the performance of the smaller nations at this World Cup has really brought home how stagnant Wales had become in comparison.

In response to what @hulloutpost was saying, although he is a Cardiff lad, Rat Boy Bellamy has never been seen as one of our own. Same goes for Gareth Bale.
 
Bellamy to Burnley appears to be off over disagreements over backroom staff.

Rotherham are in talks with Alex Bruce. Can't believe they're taking this long to appoint a manager. They've basically had since Hamshaw left three months ago.
