If one season out of the Champions League can do this, what can two or more do?

Here's hoping we find out! :yup:

Man Utd's 84% profit loss lumps pressure on players to secure European place

Which financial year does this cover ? Does it only include the 2013/2014 season with the Mata and Fellaini transfers ? If so, how does it include the lack of funds from the CL as they ere in it last year ?

If it is 2014/15 then surely it is premature and would include all this Summer's transfers and loan fees but would also include the new huge sponsorship deals.

I'm confused.

Also, if their profits were £130.1 million last year, why would they have suffered a loss but for a one-off tax credit ? Did they receive a one-off tax credit or over £130.1 million ? What was that all about ?

I am sure I read somewhere that Van Ghoul has been given the target of securing third place or better this season. The Heat Is On.

He's got the players now though Skoorb.

Mata, Di Maria, Falcao, Rojos, Shaw, Blind, Herrera, the girl and fatboy.

Maybe a few doubts about the backline still despite Shaw, Rojo and Blind joining - still not sure whether Blind is for defensive midfield or central defence though as he's only 5ft 9 inches tall it's probably going to be the former.

I suppose it is one of those things that could go either way. They could win the Prem or finish lower than last season - though I doubt that is feasible as I think 7th is about as low as a top team with such depth can fall.

They've added some quality but still look lightweight in some areas, the squad seems unbalanced to me.

Their defence in particular looks ropey but that said so did Liverpool's last season but as they showed having no European commitments helps greatly when it comes to mounting a title challenge.

It's extremely difficult to call how it will pan out for them.

They have to finish top 4 this season, or it will mean them posting a loss next year, especially since they'll be buying Falcao. Attacking talent or not, teams will sit back, take pressure, and hit them on the break (like Stoke did to us) to take points off of them. I see them winning a lot of games 4-3 and the like. It's definitely a pivotal season for them, no doubt, especially since us, Liverpool, Chelsea, and Arsenal all have more well-balanced teams than they do.

What financial year figures have just been revealed though ? What transfers does it include ? Presumably, the reference to not being in Europe means this year but how can they predict with so much accuracy ? If the 84% reduction allows for the purchases of Di Maria (£59 million and wages of £250K per week), Shaw (£28 million and reported wages of £160K per week), Herrera (£28 million), Blind (£14 million), Falcao (£6 million loan fee and wages of £300K per week), Rojos (£16 million) and also being out of the CL (loss of at least £35 million) then the figures are surely highly impressive.

It's their 2013_14 accounts that have just been released. The article is as you say, quite confusing as it seems to mix revenues from different years in the same sentence
I suppose they should however, have quite a good handle on their expected income and sales to make a decent stab at a forecast
