I was sat here with my son in law watching that game he sort of follows Forest because I do & my grandson does but he's never really followed football until recently so doesn't really understand it that much, so as they were showing the replays of that handball I said to him that's going to be chalked off explained to him why & we just carried chatting about something else, then when VAR sent ref to the screen I said there you are & commented about how long the ref stood looking at it when we all knew he would disallow,

Then I just couldn't believe his announcement & how can you just make an announcement like that with having to justify it

Have to watch refwatch in the morning see what excuse Dermot finds to support & justify his mate's decision no doubt they'll come up with something.

Though my money's on another incoming letter of apology from PGMOL to add to the collection, we should have them all framed & hung in the museum

Boly was a real shocker from an absolutely diabolical referee, but I can understand a referee as bad as him not actually seeing what happened before reaching for the red card

Salisbury literally just made up his own interpretation of the rules so he could allow a goal

Agree with this. How many times do you hear “The referee has been invited to the screen, We ALL know what that means “, because typically the referee goes WITH VAR. By overturning VAR he creates more of a spectacle. He will be all over the red tops and some black ones.

I don’t know who said it but the best refs are the ones that you hardly notice. It’s not about the football anymore it’s about referees and VAR trying to make themselves more important than they are. It was a bloody good game, but they won’t be talking about that on MOTD so much as the refereeing. Why do they have to big themselves up so much.

VAR pontificate for 5 minutes, then the ref reviews for 5 minutes and slowly but surely they are killing the game. For me bring in auto offsides, if VAR need to take more than a minute to come to a decision then isn’t clear and obvious. Take away the review screens and give VAR the authority to agree with the referee or overrule him/her. Then we can get back to talking about football rather than referees.

Think you're right there Pope Just after I posted it, I realised it was a completely different situation knob Jones didn't have the benefit of VAR to help him, it was (hopefully) an honest mistake by an incompetent referee, just giving it as he thought he'd seen it.

This one is a different category because he did have VAR to guide him but chose to ignore that guidance. If we didn't Have VAR you would just write it off as genuine mistake by the ref or maybe he didn't see it, but when he is presented with concrete evidence & still refuses to see it then that is in a class of it's own

I can't see what difference that makes personally he gained an advantage from it. In most cases when penalties are given for handball the offence is accidental, except in instances like Williams, but they still give a penalty
