Bielsa could be strategically forgoing matches to conserve energy for those they could realistically win in 2021-22.
This after observing the pattern of play in conceding to Man U. Man U was on paper a better team and Leeds Utd record at Old Trafford was abysmal. So focusing on getting a result here is really not a great idea.
Leeds Utd may have been breached 5 times, but they were mainly long balls that were punted behind their last line.
Knowing the abilities of Bielsa, his team is not as naïve as the score line may seem to suggest.
Leeds Utd were hardly into the gears and were in control even when they conceded. Credit to them, they held up for the first 45minutes and scored when they wanted early in the second.
If Bielsa were all out to get a result, he could have started Phillips and Firpo that in turn would release Dallas and Rodrigo to play in their more favoured positions.
This one looks like a final warmup match for them.
