A man who pulled in to a bus stop on Christmas Day to help a homeless man was fined by a council.

Lee Williamson, of Evington, Leicester, said he stopped to give a homeless man a blanket, hat, gloves, scarf, food, and chat to him.

He later received a £70 fine, despite there being no buses on 25 December.

The Mahrez meltdown seems to have effected the local Council. Since was a bus stop a bicycle lane?

The Mayor has now changed his tune.

"You can take rules to a crazy extreme. We should do everything we can to make absolutely certain that Lee is not punished for doing this good deed and his parking fine is cancelled."

I'm guessing somebody told him about the 'optics' of pointing out there was legal parking further down the road and what a pointless statement it was.

I might just be being harsh though as surely somebody down the chain who it got to first should've just laughed and binned it.

You have to laugh don't you? Such pettiness. And yet we all want and need more good people in the world!
