Main Stand

Current City Ground capacity 30,400+ after this summers redevelopment of the corporate facilities. 3 games in this season and we haven't sold out once. No point in a 50,000 capacity stadium if we only sell it out 6 times a season. 35,000 more than enough for us.
There's every point.

1) If it does sell out just 6 times a year then it's extra revenue.
2) It makes it a better concert venue - extra revenue.
3) It makes it a Euro/World Cup venue - extra revenue.
4) It makes it a better sporting venue (boxing for example) - extra revenue.
5) It makes it a better corporate venue - extra revenue.

If we increase capacity to any size and it sells out we didn’t increase enough. It’s not about selling every ticket, it’s accommodating the fans who wish to go and the other business opportunities. WHU are a good point as they massively increased attendances when they didn’t necessarily think they would.

All good points but -
1. A half empty stadium 12+ times a year is a hell of a lot of lost revenue.
2. Can't argue against this.
3. I doubt if the UK will ever hold any of these tournaments again (certainly not in my lifetime 😅 ).
4. Forest just don't entertain boxing for some bizarre reason having turned down both Froch and Wood world title fights.
5. Our corporate facilities are the best they've ever been this season and we still don't sell out.
Just a different viewpoint chap.

1) how is it lost?
2) good
3) unless you're in your 90s I'm not so sure. Even if it doesn't happen, what's to lose?
4) A bigger venue might convince the promoters.
5) If they are 'better' they might/

What's to lose in a bigger stadium?

i was hoping that tickets would be free within a few years seeing as they are becoming a smaller and smaller percentage of revenue :)

The capacity isn't yet over 30,000 - the new seats in the corners are not yet installed.
EPL games are a sellout except for last minute returns which can't be resold within 24 hours of kick-off (god knows why)

You are probably right that we currently don't need 50k
40k should be enough in the next 3-5 years, however if we keep progressing the next phase to rebuild the BC stand could take us towards the magic 50k number.

It all depends on the pricing structure. My son who has a decent job is starting to begrudge paying £60 for a run of the mill game against Wolves, never mind the price for pensioners. On top of that having to pay £100 just to be on the list to buy tickets means we now pick and choose our games. The value for money of a PL game is getting very poor as a regular pastime.

Are the corners being filled in with the hospitality shipping containers during the international break? If they’ve already been snapped up we should see over 30,000 attendances soon.

Yes they are - but that is just a couple of hundred people.
There are seats going in, in front of them - in fact they are already there. They will be used after the international break as well - again only a few hundred - but enough to take us over 30k

Be nice to see that happen. I was at the game but didn’t know the timeframe. Let’s hope they start on the new stand after season ends.

Don't hold your breath on that one.
Without going over old ground - until they have some sort of 'approval' for all improvements to get the capacity to over 40k they will not commit to buy the freehold or start the new stand (which I believe is being re-designed).

Not heard about the new design proposal. Perhaps since the club has retained PL status they might be more ambitious.
My opinion and that is all it is!

Current capacity is 30k with Main stand @ 5.5k
Phase 1 -
New Main Stand - circa 14k (currently planned @ 11k) = 38k
Bridgford - additional 2k
New Capacity - 40k

Phase 2 -
Rebuild BC stand - (Currently circa 9k) - 15k
Total capacity - 46k

I don't see how it could be any bigger - even if needed
This is ignoring all acccess problems etc.

Main stand being redesigned? Who have you heard that from?

Corner up four or five levels now.
From the photos doing the rounds it looks embarrassing and could at least be wider. If it gets 180 more corporate guests in then fair play but they can't sell out the existing corporate facilities due to overpricing in my opinion. This has the potential to be a glorious high profile failure. Happy to be proven wrong though.
