Yep no doubt he was a good player but by the sounds of things, we just couldn't afford his wages. Another thing was Challinor did not appear to rate him as highly as Hignett: he was on the bench more after Challinor's arrival.

Gus was a good player for Pools, however he didn't appear to have the dynamism or goal threat which Shelton and Holohan provide.
I'd agree that Pools still need a midfield destroyer, though I didn't see Gus provide enough of that in the games I witnessed..
