MacAtee

Finally some common sense.

VO crucified him by playing out of position and despite that was better than Anderson, Dominguez and Yates in the first half

Appalling from our manager. He should have stayed on with Anderson withdrawn

Needs chances in his correct position

Sorry, I don't agree - personally I'd rather play out of position than sit on a bench, show the manager what I can do, WIN my place - until you then get a chance in the 'favoured position'.

JM will never get a chance in the '10' whilst MGW is at Forest and quite frankly he doesn't seem willing to fight for that chance.

A below par Anderson, which I'd mentioned too, was streets ahead of MacAtee.

We have a 7 foot striker & JM didn't put in 1 decent cross.... not saying that the traffic cone would have actually jumped, but his body language was terrible.

I hate to vilify players and I really want JM to succeed but he has grasp the nettle.

You’re talking as if he was played at centre half. He’s played wide plenty of times in his career - more so than any other position at city. Not saying he’ll be maximised playing out of position, but it doesn’t excuse losing the ball constantly, getting shrugged off and letting the game pass him by.

We’ve got to stop excusing these fringe players for why they’re shit in every game. Especially the ones that have played regularly in this substandard Europa league. McAtee starts nearly every game in it and every game he’s hooked

In what must be a very rare occasion, I'm agreeing with you Will.

You have to give him the chance. Hes never a winger and he was better than every one of our regular starters last night.

VP royally fucked that first half up. It should have been 3 at the back with the team selected with McAtee in the 10

I’m no McAtee lover, but we are 4th bottom, can’t score, playing a playmaker on the wing, a CB at LB, our superb Anderson who also doesn’t score or assist as a 10.

From what I saw Cunha and McAtee were far from the worst players on the field last night

You must watch a very different game.

JM was better than Lucca - the rest had a very forgettable first half.

That's fair, but you expect to see players put in a shift and the failure to do the fundamental basics is alarming for someone with his undoubted talents. Everyone that I know, when joining a new team, typically starts from the bench and they have to win their place - I just don't see that mentality from JM - currently!

Last night was yet another opportunity for the 'fringe' players, that Ange, Dyche & VP have allowed but my views are that only Cunha took the opportunity.

Yes - Cunha gave away a penalty, after Neco was outmuscled straight after HT - but, he's quick, strong in the air and decent positionally.

On that showing, I'd prefer Cunha to Morato as next in line at CH.

Yates - I'll give him leeway for the injury, Morato (bang average & prone to multiple mistakes every game), Lucca - thank fcuk it is a loan without an obligation to buy.... as ever, I really hope he proves me wrong.
Completely agree. Of the men bought in the Summer only Cunha, Jesus and Hutch stand out. Kali may be scoring goals since his move but the standard of football bar 10 or so clubs is just so poor. Jury remains out on Ndoye but my opinion on McAtee, Lucca and Bakwa is made up. Think the recruitment team have their work cut out.

I can't agree Pope, we sit BC Lower, front row.

He repeatedly gave the ball away, failed to out in a decent cross on numerous occasions, failed to beat his man - when Neco beat the same player & sh1t out of tackles.

Then the cross from Omari to back post, where he was unmarked & rather than head it back across goal, he tamely flicked it out of play for a GK.

He did bail out Cunha, but that is his job & the fact that Lucca had lost the ball for that scenario again - just summed it all up for me.

Don't get me wrong, there were far too many poor performers last night, Anderson's corners were poor again, he gave the ball away & he made Kante look fantastic - BUT - the big difference is that he puts a shift in & the good parts are where our best team moves come from.

Yates was well below par, but dislocating his finger early doors would have had an impact.

Lucca - what a crock of shit he is, he has the movement of an ironing board, jumps 5'3 from 6'7, his second touch is a tackle & I can only say that that guy is not a footballer & I'd hope not to see him again, I'd rather bring back Lars Weldwijk, Andrei Silenzi or Niclas Bendtner.

Cunha was arguably one of our best players on the night & at least Pereira owned the decision to play these players and made changes at HT.

I thought he WAS lars weldwijk in disguise. Appalling game yesterday from him.

I’m no fan of his trust me, but there is a player there. I see more in him than Lucca, Ndoye, Bakwa as options off the bench for the rest of this season

That’s not saying much though.

Not doubting that at all, I was really enthused when we signed him, same with Bakwards BUT having played & managed for decades, I cannot accept such a lack of effort from JM.

I don't have 1/100th of his ability but he doesn't have 1/100000000th of my effort, work rate OR being able to actually take corners or out in a cross (quiet a few in that latter category though at NFFC).

If we survive, this summer is going to be chaos. Like our first season back chaos.

I’ve said for months if we stay up and our recruitment mirrors last summer we are 100% certain to go down.
We cannot miss on recruitment this summer. We have to hope we keep MGW as Anderson and Murillo are gone.

Will VP be the manager? I’m not sure we survive though

Whichever division we are in it will be chaos. All of our best players are likely to go either way but if we drop, the decks will need to be well and truly cleared…

If we stay up, do you think we will lose more than 2 key players?

We will lose Murillo, MGW and Anderson for starters. Too much interest developing.

Neco, Milo and Aina might also have interest and want to move. Then there is Dominguez, Sangare and possibly CHO.

I could easily see us losing up to half a dozen of our established players.

i do feel we will manage to stay up, but it wont be pretty.

also get the feeling that we may lose one or maybe two of the top players, but not all of them./ EM is pretty stubborn. but we will likely lose someone we dont expect to like Williams or Sangare etc..

We wont be selling all of those for sure, but if we accept that Murillo and Anderson are gone, and we do survive, we need to extend MGW's contract or he will be gone.
Same with Sangare

If I was another club, I'd be all over Williams early doors to strike a deal.

Both Manc sides and Villa want MGW so can’t see him staying given how this season has panned out. That’s three straight away and I could easily see three more wanting out if the offers are right.

There was also a rumour that we would listen to offers for Jesus and he won’t be the only one.

Most important part of our summer is having the right manager in place. Our appointments (and some poor investment in new players) are what have cost us this season. Get Silva in, sell Anderson and probably have to be Murillo and use the money properly to build a decent squad.

I said in the summer we banked too much on potential and not enough on proven quality. Ship out Ndoye, McAtee for hopefully £35m, add it to the funds from Anderson and Murillo and be sensible in signing both established and potential players.

Sadly, I’m questioning whether we’ll have the chance to do that given the way it’s panning out
