MacAtee

Vital Reserves Team
4 managers in.
All 4 have seen him in practice, and none have played him in the 10 many fans want to see him in. It cannot be a coincidence when 4 managers do the same; where they play him and how they pull him from the game.

We have all seen him play.
Terrible.

Man City must be laughing all the way to the bank.

What I saw yesterday was a shite footballer giving the ball away, trying to dribble past players and failing at it and then getting frustrated and hiding until he was taken off.
He's both physically and mentally weak, and not very good at football.

Before arriving at Forest he had several poor seasons at Man City and on loan at several clubs. Bang average at Blades. Had a reported decent tournament for England at U 21’s but I didn’t see it. What I did see was Harvey Elliott and Elliott Anderson play well. McAtee was light, failed to dictate and only showed anything when others around him shone brightly.

At Forest he has had two promising halves out of 12. The other 10 have been woeful. Unable to beat a man, no physicality, no speed, no energy no belief, no talent. I have seen nothing to suggest he is worth £35k certainly not £35m.

To offer some balance players do take time to settle and he may improve next season and he has played out of position but!!!

Taken off 3 times at half time. i mean, if this was a sunday league a player taken off like that he would consider just packing it in

I felt he was hard done to

He was one of our better players that first half.

Playing right in front of me, out of position.

Attempted some really clever through balls and passes that his team mates, particularly Lucca, were just too shit to even realise were going to happen. Clearly used to playing with much better players. Probably looked shit on TV but when you can see the whole pitch it's easier to see what he was trying to do.

He bailed out Cunha at the end of the half, running the whole length of the pitch to defend when Cunha was isolated and struggling.

I felt for him last night

Attempting clever balls means sweet FA Pope. I have posted previously that he appears to have no interest at being at our club. He looks lazy, disinterested, and has been an all round disappointment since he set foot on the pitch for us.

Every time I see him he looks a bigger waste of money than the previous time. He’s played something like 300 minutes for us and all we have to show for this investment is 5 shots, 1 goal, 0 assists, and not a great deal else. And 4 of those shots and his goal were against Ferencvaros.

I’m not actually sure it’s to do with not wanting to be at Forest and more that he’s just mentally weak. It’s exactly what I said about him when we signed him in the summer when everybody was saying what a great prospect he is - he’s never had the attitude of a MGW.

He’s not got the mentality or physicality to make it. He reminds me of Kieran Dowell and Barrie McKay but has shown even less than they did, albeit in the championship.

He’ll end up going down the divisions. He’s 24 this year - he’s not infant enough to fall back on the ‘young player finding his feet’ card. Same age as Palmer and Rogers and older than Anderson and Bellingham.

Maybe it is a mentality thing. But he just looks lost and the game passes him by. He tried a few through balls which didn’t come off, headed one so far wide it was embarrassing, and looked like how I think I would look if I tried playing football after a cocktail of drink and drugs

I can't agree Pope, we sit BC Lower, front row.

He repeatedly gave the ball away, failed to out in a decent cross on numerous occasions, failed to beat his man - when Neco beat the same player & sh1t out of tackles.

Then the cross from Omari to back post, where he was unmarked & rather than head it back across goal, he tamely flicked it out of play for a GK.

He did bail out Cunha, but that is his job & the fact that Lucca had lost the ball for that scenario again - just summed it all up for me.

Don't get me wrong, there were far too many poor performers last night, Anderson's corners were poor again, he gave the ball away & he made Kante look fantastic - BUT - the big difference is that he puts a shift in & the good parts are where our best team moves come from.

Yates was well below par, but dislocating his finger early doors would have had an impact.

Lucca - what a crock of shit he is, he has the movement of an ironing board, jumps 5'3 from 6'7, his second touch is a tackle & I can only say that that guy is not a footballer & I'd hope not to see him again, I'd rather bring back Lars Weldwijk, Andrei Silenzi or Niclas Bendtner.

Cunha was arguably one of our best players on the night & at least Pereira owned the decision to play these players and made changes at HT.

I think you’re probably right, but I’m loath to judge almost any player at Forest this season given what utter chaos it’s been.
He probably be better in the championship, if he stays.

That's fair, but you expect to see players put in a shift and the failure to do the fundamental basics is alarming for someone with his undoubted talents. Everyone that I know, when joining a new team, typically starts from the bench and they have to win their place - I just don't see that mentality from JM - currently!

Last night was yet another opportunity for the 'fringe' players, that Ange, Dyche & VP have allowed but my views are that only Cunha took the opportunity.

Yes - Cunha gave away a penalty, after Neco was outmuscled straight after HT - but, he's quick, strong in the air and decent positionally.

On that showing, I'd prefer Cunha to Morato as next in line at CH.

Yates - I'll give him leeway for the injury, Morato (bang average & prone to multiple mistakes every game), Lucca - thank fcuk it is a loan without an obligation to buy.... as ever, I really hope he proves me wrong.

I thought, and keept thinking, that he looks shit on TV. He looked good in one set of Europa League highlights. I thought he looked pretty shit in person when at Braga.

Finally some common sense.

VO crucified him by playing out of position and despite that was better than Anderson, Dominguez and Yates in the first half

Appalling from our manager. He should have stayed on with Anderson withdrawn

Needs chances in his correct position

Cunha is class and Lucca should never wear thet kit again

You’re talking as if he was played at centre half. He’s played wide plenty of times in his career - more so than any other position at city. Not saying he’ll be maximised playing out of position, but it doesn’t excuse losing the ball constantly, getting shrugged off and letting the game pass him by.

We’ve got to stop excusing these fringe players for why they’re shit in every game. Especially the ones that have played regularly in this substandard Europa league. McAtee starts nearly every game in it and every game he’s hooked

You have to give him the chance. Hes never a winger and he was better than every one of our regular starters last night.

VP royally fucked that first half up. It should have been 3 at the back with the team selected with McAtee in the 10

I’m no McAtee lover, but we are 4th bottom, can’t score, playing a playmaker on the wing, a CB at LB, our superb Anderson who also doesn’t score or assist as a 10.

From what I saw Cunha and McAtee were far from the worst players on the field last night

Stephen Ireland at Man City openly admitted he hated football but kept it going for money.

city fans likened Mcatee to Ireland. he just doesnt seem to want it.

He played 67 league games for Sheff Utd, 30 in the Prem and scored 12 goals. Not sure how you class that as ‘bang average’…?

He has ability but strikes me as a confidence player. When the team is playing well and he has space to do his thing then he will play well but he is not a player who takes the game by the scruff like MGW or Anderson.

People have been talking about and trying to justify Bakwa’s awful performances by saying his confidence is shot. That applies to McAtee too I think.

Last night McAtee was trying stuff that didn’t work and he disappeared a bit prior to being hooked.

Like Bakwa, I think he needs to be taken out of the picture and given a reset in the summer. Problem is we don’t have many alternatives left to us…
