Lovell goalkeeper selection dilemma.

I hope it's just words but Lovell is quoted in KOL as having a selection dilemma for Saturday. Apparently Hadler did OK and didn't have a lot to do.
Wasn't the first goal a rebound off him?
We also lost 3-0 so presumably the defence overall wasn't functioning.
Holy must be brought back surely?

The dilemma is whether or not Lovell thinks we are safe and can gamble to give Hadler another chance to see if he is worthy of a new contract.

Yet another young player being dismissed without a fair chance, I didn't think Hadler was at fault for any of the goals, the defence on the other hand.

He must have been at fault for the first, it bounced off him to their player. When Joe Hart does it he gets slaughtered.
He will get his chance but now is surely not the time with the defence playing as it is and the midfield not functioning.

Overall, I think Hadler did OK v Blackpool and would be fine with SL playing him again at Rovers. Remember, we should have Zak back tomorrow; we are so much better with him in the team. No way are we going down, well, this season anyway..

The ball did bounce back off Hadler for their first, as it often does with many keepers. With the ball having taken a wicked bounce just in front of him he did well to stop it at all, shame the defence didn't react to win the second ball, I've seen snails that move faster than Ehmer.

Anyone else think Holy might be off, hence Hadler being drafted in for a look?

Yes I think that's entirely possible.I'm sure Hadler will be here next season - either as No 1 keeper or No 2. It shouldn't be forgotten that Holy looked a bit dodgy in his first few games. Making league debuts is probably more daunting for keepers than outfield players.

I see Hadler went to Simon Langton Grammar in Canterbury by the way.

Holy is a far better keeper but in general have decent keepers are not hard to find - even most outfield players make a Ok keeper

Hadler did ok, but I'd play Holy assuming he's fit etc. Because we're not 100% safe we need someone experienced to help us edge over the line to safety.
Hadler was given great support with the Rainham End clapping his every move, but away from home, if the Bristol fans sense he's a bit nervy, they could make life very uncomfortable for him and it could ruin his confidence. So until we're safe, play Holy.

Entirely agree Davey. Also think Holy might be on his way as we need the cash

Do we need the cash? I know more money is always welcome but we are hardly in a position we need to sell to starve off bankrupcy.

Plus I don't think anyone will rate him high enough to put in a bid.

if the Bristol fans sense he's a bit nervy

I'd say it's Holy who has looked nervy for the last 4-6 weeks. He's gone walkabout at least twice in his last couple of home games, too many stray kicks straight into touch and don't get me started on the failed Cruyff turn in the box! :censor:

He's got progressively worse since Nelson moved on IMO. Could be lack of competition or complacency or maybe he's had his head turned by a potential summer move. All told, he's taken his eye off the ball...and that's not good for a keeper :grinning:

I think Hadler looked composed for us last weekend. I can't remember him conceding possession with a stray pass or kick. I'd play him this weekend as I'm not sure he warrants being dropped & I'm not sure I prefer the alternative right now!

All hail Zakuani - he's the glue in our defence - if he plays, we'll be right

he did well to stop it at all, shame the defence didn't react to win the second ball, I've seen snails that move faster than Ehmer.

Completely disagree with the first part of the sentence.
Completely agree with the rest - we were yet again second to the ball. Up to the defenders to dig Hadler out if he spills anything. Predictably on Saturday they didn’t.
