That's all based on the assumption that each fan in the ground bases their entire reason for being there, on how much the club spent on players, and that football is the be-all and end-all of life.
I suspect for most, it isn't.
For most (reasoned) people, it's to watch some football, and yes, have some ambition with it; but it's not the end of the world that you spend your life crying about it.
Each to their own, I suppose.
