Local Clubs complain about City and will boycott games!

Alert Team
I have just read this and is unbelievable, but throw enough mud.

http://www.independent.ie/sport/soccer/premier-league/premier-league-looking-into-man-citys-academy-transfers-after-rival-clubs-make-rule-breach-allegations-35244530.html?

"The report adds that City are also facing an investigation into their relationship with St Bede’s College in Manchester after allegations that the club have promised to pay for the private education of anyone enrolled in their Academy up to the age of 18 even if they leave it"

Is the suggestion here that City paying for their academy lads education is against Premier League rules?

No, the suggestion is that as no-one else does this we must be doing something wrong, despite the fact that no team has actually made a complaint about anything we've done :007:

So no formal complaint, only unsubstantiated allegations or comments from unnamed sources.

As City appear to have said - "put the allegations down to jealousy from their rivals over the quality of the City Football Academy"

I would be quite satisfied that City have conducted everything above board and according to the rules. This seems like mud slinging and sour grapes from other clubs fearful of losing out to the City set up. I wouldn't put it beyond the realm of possibility that these clubs might not discourage parents of children who have not been selected for the City Academy initiating such comments.

I am sure the Club's Legal Team will have followed the rules and kept all the authorities abreast of any negotiations including St Bedes.

The Club I understand only pay the fees for those that are academy members, I would suspect that it would be against FA rules to pay for fees to siblings, as that could be constituted as a incentive for the players family to consent to the signing.

I hope that these allegations are unfounded and that the Club is cleared of any wrongdoing

Nobody has made a complaint, so what are they investigating?
"Are facing.."
"..suggestions..have been raised.." - What the **ck does that even mean?

Manchester clubs at loggerheads over youth policy with United concerned City's recruitment drive is overly aggressive

It has never been the other way round has it?

Quietly, Manchester City are beating United at the generation game
https://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2015/oct/24/manchester-city-united-youth-policy

old news I know, but relevant.

I think the problem can be summed up with this snippet from the Fail's article....

"In 2014 Manchester City opened state-of-the-art £200m training complex"

The green eyed monster lies behind this latest sh*t stirring as the other clubs find that, despite their "history", the potential for the future of their children being significantly better given the facilities City offer continues to prove a strong lure for parents.

You always want the best for your children and loyalties to "your" club tend to get put to one side and are on the weak side of the equation when you are taking these decisions. Just ask former rag players who have secured places for their children at the CFA.

I just think it was a bit naughty of the Independent to throw it in with nothing substantial to back it up.

Just because the other team wins all the matches, does that mean you give up? No it means you should do better and make your own academy better and more attractive to the youth of today and if you do that then England and the other home countries may do a lot better.

The Americans have been doing sports scholarship for decades, so the other Clubs should get their fingers out and share the wealth like City do and stop moaning.

and yet, here we are some 14 months later, and not one other club has made any sort of formal complaint against us. Why is that? Could it be because we haven't actually broken any rules? :048:

You bet put your shirt on that C, the Legal team will have certainly dotted the is and crossed the Ts, I think it is because we have become a success and gone about recruitment in the best way, got the best people in and all of a sudden moaning instead of doing something about it.

If all the Clubs did this then surely we could and should produce some future for the home nations

They are not the only Premier League club currently under investigation. Manchester City face the prospect of similar or heavier punishment as they await the outcome of ongoing investigations into their youth recruitment.
