LiverpoolTMFailed - a thread of their own

Dipper mental conversation before being dumped out of the CL:

“Nah….the League Cup is a tinpot trophy….the Champions League is the BIG one”

Today:

“Not really bothered about the Champions League really, nah……what will be really big is bringing home the League Cup. Always seen this as a BIG target. What a fab achievement is we do the double eh? Epic!”

Remember the year that they were in everything, and the media was going ballistic and it came to nothing, they still fail to give credit and I mean proper credit to the team they hardly ever mention without reference to you know what
No indeed.
I watched the 4-in-a-Row documaentary this morning and the enormity of that achievement on the back of the domestic treble…….just awesome but an inconvenience in respect of the Narrative.

Oh dear Lord…..if ever there were a case for investigating whether there are bias factions within the BBC Sport editorial team then this (& one other to follow) is evidence. Talk about begging up their win to astronomical heights by any means possible because, of course, it must be bigger than any other club’s success. After all…..it means more to them.

Liverpool fans' celebrations caused earth tremor

I can see some elements in this article but it does miss out on a factor hugely relevant almost unique to this particular club - that their visceral reaction to players leaving for other clubs masks a very, very deeply rooted insecurity. After all Raheem Sterling wasn’t local and look how they turned on him.

The fans and local players.

I am not surprised

Wirtz has to prove himself in the prem, and with that huge transfer fee hanging around his neck it may prove difficult.
Remember when we bought KDB for £55m I think, they slagged him off.

Wirtz has had the opposite effect and costs twice as much and yes he is good in the german league, but time will tell if he is super duper here, normally Real madrid spot these players, but for some reason backed off, I wonder why, because the price would not have been a barrier

He had a year out with an acl, maybe too risky for Madrid, who knows.

My sympathies are with Jota's family and friends.

as far as Liverpool go, if they are respectful yes it is a great loss for them, but you cannot help think that they will make this all about them and not the family

A terrible, awful time for his wife and children, his parents - losing two sons  is unimaginable - for the extended family.

But I agree, the club have a track record in this area & always find a way to make it all about them. From the tv interviews i witnessed yesterday there was plenty of examples.

I await the standard backlash from the club's fans against the Spanish crash investigators......

BBC News - Jota's car was likely speeding before fatal crash - Spanish police
Lambo's use Pirelli or Michelin tyres, a blow out can happen, so very unfortunate for the brothers, may they rest in peace. No doubt the coroner will release the findings in due course.

In the meantime Liverpool™ failed are milking this one for all it is worth, but not doing it quietly
