one of my buddys from portugal, who follows football, was talking with me. We were talking about a good player who is likely to move in the summer, and I said I was hoping he would choose a mid-table side.. so he asked, "like liverpool?" I dont know why, but it made me realise..

liverpool are truly not a top 5 team anymore, and are a mid table team, times in the premier league are really changing..

It's really only a matter of time before we see a European Super League, isn't it? Someone, probably Sky, will come forward with an unbelievably good TV offer in the range of ten billion dollars per year for a 20 team Super League with no promotion or relegation, and that will be the end of football as we know it.

I think you have a point, Philly. I also feel this will come to pass, and I had a discussion on Twitter not so long ago with a fellow City fan about it.
It would have to be an unbelievable offer for clubs to consider it. The only thing I could think of that may prevent it is clubs/FAs being expelled from European club and national competitions, or players banned from national selection.
Could/would that happen? Any thoughts?

Well, the rags would be up for it. Most of their players get "injured" before friendlies anyway, so they'd love not losing players to those pesky international tournaments. There was a time when playing for your country was the greatest thing there could be. Now, finding a way to skip out on international duty is commendable and an art.

I would hate to see it, even if by some chance we were invited to join. The best part about playing in the Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, The Bundesliga, etc. is the ability to be national champions. The only problem is that the rags stopped caring about being an English team long ago when they sold their soul for a few bucks and the ability to float on every stock market in the world.

To be fair, they've made a game of it. Currently 3-1 on the night, 5 minutes plus stoppages to go. Need another.

Suarez did score an absolute stunner from a free kick for the third. Different position, but reminded me of the third Tevez scored against Stoke in the PL after the 2011 Cup Final.
