Another big step forward it seems with the CPO appeal. This week just keeps on giving....

Seems a torturous process but we could well see things happening on the site soon maybe. Still a couple of seasons at least left at GP though, will we be able to bow out with top flight football at our spiritual home?

Talking to a Millwall fan they seem to be going in the other direction with Lewisham Council using CPO's to buy up all their surrounding land round the Den including the car parks and Lions centre and they think force them out eventually. We are maybe very lucky we have Hounslow Council with us.

Well done for putting this up KentBee, without getting too carried away it is hard to view this as anything other than great news. I'll be gutted to leave GP, i'm not even sure if i'd have it in me to go to the last game, BUT for the future of the club we need to be in LR ASAP. My only hope is that we can find a way to give it more character and atmosphere than the breeze block, identikit bowls we've been visiting in the championship. Reading, Cardiff, Derby, Wigan, Udders, MKD, Bolton, to name but a few.

Hope Millwall are ok, the New Den isn't the most salubrious of places but I really love going there.

Dear Mr Kentbee

Good point re. Hounslow Council, sadly they haven't always been on our side. I remember arguing with no longer Cllr. Cooper over ten years ago over BFC, and I have to say his attitude towards us was pretty negative.

However, at the famous meeting a couple of years ago, the worm turned. Very sad that the whole thing is still rumbling on (and you just hope this idiot isn't going to appeal), but hopefully this is it now.

Very sorry to hear Millwall are having trouble by the way.

Regards

Gordon

LOL. Good point. Still there were Brentford fans on Facebook happily posting that their racist views took precedence over their football club and voted for Zac or Golding just because they weren't "Muslim scum" as one put it. I got into debate, or loosely called debate. Basically telling them why they were wrong and getting abuse in return lol.

Looks like the CPO on all land is being processed with no further appeals. Guess there will be an announcement when all land is in our hands.

Amazing if true mate, would be a real lift going into the new season. Now let's make it bigger to prove to some of our own who still think we're a small club. Seen some even suggesting that AFC are bigger because they took 20K to Wembley, we had 26K at the JPT final - come on peeps!

Need to get those ST sales up a bit 5k+ not bad for the mo though.

Looks like the work on site is finally now starting with some preparatory clearance work etc. going on suddenly.

Its' all a bit low key but quite a historic moment for our club I feel. No doubt there will be some more ceremonious moments when the first brick etc. is laid

I have friends who are Orient supporters and it is quite poignant that in the week we start the next chapter in our rise as a club they are about to hit rock bottom with possible administration and very likely relegation out of the football league in a few weeks. Two clubs with a similar past and stature going in very different directions.

So it all starts officially and the countdown to the end of GP begins, maybe what 55 or so home games left if all goes to plan? that sounds like a reality check.

Nice touch to use the old stable building bricks in the new stadium development. I really hope it will be a stadium with individuality that is synonymous with GP.

Couldn't agree more, amazing effort to get it this far, now it's about the build & making it unique. Gutted to leave GP but it is about the future now, and the destruction of the RO took much of her beauty away. All who can should get down there & enjoy the memories whilst we can. Regardless of the football the place is special & our common church.

In case you've not seen it, here's another article from neutrals extolling the virtues of GP:

What an excellent article. Thanks for sharing that, Beefy.

Today for me as an old git that hates change is dreadful. Brexit (could screw up my wonderful life here sooner than you think), new ground and most importantly they've changed the picture on tubs of drinking chocolate. When is it going to end?

All the places of my youth are gone, Blackpool Mecca, Wigan Casino and soon the one thing I thought would be my constant. Griffin Park. Not sure I could continue elsewhere. It would be like another club to me.

I've watched football from all sides of Griffin Park, and remember when we used to change ends at half time and walk round the side of the pitch, but the Ealing Road stand is my absolute favourite place to watch football in all the world.

So, after a summer of rumblings, we are getting a revised design it seems with c17500 capacity, details to be publicised on Tuesday. We wait with great interest.

Not like Brentford to disappoint us is it?

When clubs go to a new ground the attendances always rise by a certain amount. This won't be big enough, especially if we go up and interest grows. Lost income on match days. I hope long suffering fans don't lose out to the new glory hunter lot if that happens.

Don't mention Bournemouth. We are a bigger catchment with a bigger hard core of support.

Not sure what to think of the details that have been released so far to be honest. It seems a generally downsized stadium than what was previously extensively presented. Like CB I don't think it will be big enough and I am not sure about Premium seating at the half way line which smacks of corporatism ( will they be vacated 10 minutes either side of half time like the Emirates?)

Will wait and see the designs to try and get a feel for what it may be like.

Badly handled & leaked months ago to a select few. Once in a lifetime chance to do this right now missed & takes a cost cutter from ryan air to pull it all apart. LR is the future of BFC, for the younger generations, our heart / soul in the community. Feel really disappointed with it all.

I think that, as usual, the communications have been poor but my take is that they are worried about the stadium turning, like many others have done with escalating costs, into a white elephant, in which case it could be a drag on the club rather than an asset. A tight ground in Brentford is better than a soulless bowl miles away and most of the money comes from TV anyway.

It's a lock & leave stadium Spanish, no offices, shop, bar, 3k premium (corporate) seats around the middle ring, token safe standing provision, leaving almost no home capacity increase on GP. So hardly a sustainable community stadium as sold to fans / LBH etc. How have costs spiralled? oh let's roll out the Brexit card which under scrutiny doesn't really hold water. The more you read about this the more it is off, and the lack of consultation with those that fought to make it happen is poor. Maybe it was never viable or affordable hence the Ryan air cost cutter being hired to strip it down. Oh & no images of version 2.0 yet after months of rework on the design - why?

Something very off about this imho!

If it's lock and leave, we should just lock and leave at Griffin Park.
The reason we were sold and many thought a good idea to leave Griffin Park was because it would be working seven days a week, but if it's lock and leave then it isn't exactly that is it?
I wonder how many of those going to Workington or Hartlepools on cold Tuesday nights will be left to feel out in the cold because they can't get tickets thanks to the new influx of fans that will appear?

Totally agree about the lack of consultation which was my comment about communication. It isn't what was promised, but then neither is Brexit. This is not a political forum so I won't bang on, but all the signs so far, investment, growth, business uncertainty, the pound, the clowns running the show suggest that it isn't going to be pretty. If it was my money, I would be worried right now.

Brexit wasn't my thing Spanish but it has become a blanket excuse for many things, I could find plenty of employment/ economic data to debunk the assertion that the UK is in free fall (to date anyway). The words community & sustainable have gone from the project. Who knows why, the numbers worked a few years back & not now, where will property prices be in 2 years - nobody knows so I'd like to know more about what has changed? Possibly LR was never going to add up & the reality has set in, maybe it's get to the Prem, MB gets his investment back & new ownership. Not majorly critical if this is correct but don't take fans for dummies pls.

Brexit is far to simple & an excuse imo.

Totally accept what you say about it being too simple an excuse, but let us accept that we are economically in times of uncertainty. This is a similar pattern, they make a decision without telling anybody and then handle the flak afterwards. This is a major change and I suppose we will get told a story eventually and I think we deserve something that at least sounds credible. I noticed that in the statement the word 'Risk' appeared several times.

According to BIAS, they have been working on these changes since May last year. Not consulting the customers seems to me a bit dumb in this day and age, when they have had plenty of time to do so.

Agree - we are all on the mailing list, god knows I get plenty. Dropping this on the opening week of the season & before the Bristol game was unhelpful imo. Bad comms habits that don't get better. The Ryan Air guy on the payroll should arouse enough suspicion in itself.

I guess once a few pictures of LR mark 2 get published (odd that there are none) we might get a bit more excited but it certainly all feels a bit flat, not helped by such a bad start to the season.

[This was meant to include Spanish Bees comment about toilets to make sense!] - Stoopid internet

Nooooooo!

That's the only thing attracting me to a new ground!
Otherwise I'm happy staying where we are.
